im not sure if I do it right - I click on the person and go into their profile and then there is an add friend box to click on. I hope that helps0

I have chronic fatigue and occasional pain and can't work out like I used to. I used to love to lift weights and hike. Now I can walk and do simple exercises like beginners Pilates. I'm still trying to figure out what my calorie intake should be to lose weight. It's not like it used to be. I used to lift weights and drop inches and firm up. These days...well, it's different and I have to accept that. I have a vacation coming up in two months and I'm using that to get myself motivated and staying positive.0

We can be friend if you want. I have chronic pain from 3 ruptured discs in my lumbar spine as well as other spinal issues and neck pain. I also have pcos and now I'm being tested for autoimmune disorders because I'm still not quiet "right". I can't really exercise 90% of the time (in fact there are days I use a wheelchair at the store because I can't stand up straight from my back).0

several of these posts could me writing them! I have Lupus, fibromyalgia, chiari malformation, bone on bone in both knees and so on. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about a month ago, and started the LCHF way of eating. I've lost 18 pounds so far. I still have 100+ to lose. Feel free to add me! I am super glad I found this group. Chronic pain sufferer. I have osteoporosis in my knees terribly, carpal tunnel, headaches, and feet and ankle issues. Hearing the success in this group from people like me gives me motivation and hope. Bless all of you. If anyone needs a buddy please add me.0

I've cut the wheat and flour from my diet I can't believe the diffrence it's made in my hands ,joints,knee ,and feet I can wear my wedding ring and my grandmothers for the first time it's lose my inflammation is a lot better.0

@desiresdestiny I have tmj. i haven't seen a surgeon yet but the dentists have acknowledge it. it gets locked and sometimes when i run it gets stuck a little.
@slimbyoctober I haven't been officially diagnosed but IBS has been bandied about by my doctors0 -
I have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and PCOS. After trying to lose weight over the past 20 years and going through times when I would exercise - then find myself bed-bound sick and gaining all I had lost back... I'm taking a different approach this time. My CFS has become the hardest of my issues to handle... going to the grocery store can land me in bed for a few days... so right now, "exercise" is simply not happening. It's all I can do to get through my daily activities of laundry, cleaning the house, cooking for my family... so I try to take advantage of those activities. I practice good posture, tightened stomach muscles, squats when doing laundry, leg lifts when stirring dinner, etc. I remind myself that every little thing helps. My calories are calculated to reflect a sedentary lifestyle and Zero exercise. I have lost just over 15 lbs since mid January. My hope is that as I lose weight, I'll feel better and my activity levels can improve. Unlike past times when I attempted to use MFP for weightloss - this time I am not depending on exercise calories to eat more. I have really had to focus on eating quality food. I eat a LOT of vegetables. I drink about a gallon of water a day. I don't deny myself anything that I really want... but I make sure that I really want something before I eat it.
If anyone would like to send me a friend request, Please feel free! But understand... I'm pretty harsh on negativity... I try to avoid negativity in myself and I will have no problem telling you to brush yourself off and get back on the horse! We all have bad days... but it's how we deal with them that counts!

Yeah I've had multiple splint treatments for tmj that failed and left me thousands of dollars short..

I do not have chronic pain, but I do have diabetes. I would love the privilege of being able to encourage you in your weight loss journey! I have lost a total of 37 pounds (11 on the lose it! app and then 26 on MFP). I still have quite a journey ahead of me-I want to lose about 113 more pounds to get down to at least 150. Would love to have a spot on your cheering team!0

IBS and had a knee replacement at 35. Have lost 30 pounds, give or take, and feeling better. Doing KETO/LCHF and my IBS seems to be getting better as well. Feel free to add!!
I still have knee pain, always will, but it much more manageable, less spring and fall when the weather is bouncing around a lot but generally have been in less pain!!
As for the IBS, i've been on Keto for 2 months and things seem to be getting better, though slowly, but better.0 -
Hello fellow pain sufferer... Degenerative Disc & Joint Disease here, I have 2 herniated disc in my neck 3 in my lower back... In addition to the chronic pain I also have an aneurysm in my right carotid artery so NO ONE will touch me (PT, Massage Therapist) to help with the other issues... Good times Good times... as a fellow pain sufferer my exercise is very limited and I feel like the weight will NEVER come off but I am not going to use that as an excuse anymore. I am getting older and the fact remains that my spine will continue to deteriorate and the weight doesn't help so i need to do this for my health. I have been here before, lost some, gained some, lost it again. This time it's a matter of quality of life so I am going strong 72 days now and have lost about 16lbs. You need to find a new DR... what a jerk!! A good health care specialist would never discourage a person from getting healthy. it's not easy losing weight as we get old, it tends to be slow and stall but it is NOT impossible to do so. You need a supportive physician not one who makes you feel worse about yourself. Shame on him/her!!0 -

Absolutely, get a new doctor ASAP.
I'm 54, 5'1" and have sedentary work.
I've lost 40 pounds in 9 months. Just through diet and casual walking 3x a week (or less). Not impossible. I have been eating lower carbohydrates without bread, pasta, rice, sugar and soda which has been the base of my success. I've also stopped eating prepackaged anything and started back to basic food prep from real meats, dairy, vegs and water. It has made an incredible difference in my energy level and the way I feel. Hope it helps someone else.0 -
@Juanibear and others I have had chronic pain for 40 years due to the Ankylosing Spondylitis form of arthritis. I started looking for a way to eat after in 2014 the doctors wanted me to start on Enbrel because I was concerned in my state of failing health at age 63 the possible side effects might be too much. In my case I cut out sugar and all forms of grain because I was down to using a power chair for shopping, going to theme parks, etc with the kids. For 18 months my pain has been managed OK by diet requiring no Medical Rx meds.
Oh yes after just six months my 40 years of life defining IBS resolved and is still gone 18 months later.

Above is a MFP subgroup with health issues that have greatly changed our way of eating but not everyone does it the same way as I do. Just request membership when you go to the group and you should be approved. At anytime you can click and remove yourself from the group but I expect it will appeal to all with chronic health issues.

Hey everybody! This my first ever post on MFP community! I've been going at it alone since late October and have managed to lose 36lbs so far with about another 20 or so to go. I'm 22 and 5ft8.
I have suffered with severe ankle pain the last 6 years or so, I've had multiple surgeries and it has made me worse. I have been told I have hypersensitive nerves and am undergoing more tests currently. I used to have a retail job which consisted of 50hrs a week on my feet and I used to live on various pain killers so I changed professions and got myself an office job, thinking it would be better for me but in fact this has made things even worse!
Because I stand on one leg constantly and can't put my foot flat on the floor, so sit weirdly, my back has taken the brunt of everything and some days I can't move out of bed my body is just racked with pain all over.
Basically I decided that the best way to help myself was to try and lose the excess 4 stone I was walking around with (somedays crawling)...as all of the tablets the docs have me on aren't seeming to make any difference whatsoever and I also don't feel as though they're taking me seriously, I constantly get told a young girl like you in her prime should be running circles around everybody else here. Talk about rubbing it in!
But anyway long story short I'm beginning to struggle a lot with my food, along with everything else, hence downloading this app to try and count everything and keep track straight away as I usually can't remember what I did two mins ago!
Currently keeping a food diary, pain diary and work diary so feel as though a lot of my life is purely admin at the minute so I apologise in advance if I don't make it back on here straight away!
Reading everybody else's posts has made me feel a bit more positive about my journey. It's going to be a long process as exercise is just a massive no no for me at the minute and comfort eating a lot recently with the pain!0
