Hello ! Been carb cycling for about 9 almost 10 months and down a little more than a 100 lbs . Exercise about 45 mins a day and go pretty hard! The irony is I got called fat today by one of my daughters 7 yo friend and never had that when I was obese , go figure ! Can't please them all! I'm happy to answer any questions and be moral support . I'm still on this journey , want to lose about 20-30 lbs more !

Welcome!

Carb cycling is eating low carbs on some days and high carbs on other days (or even based on time of day, like right before/after you exercise). The only way it helps with losing weight is if it mentally helps you stay in a deficit.

If you are looking for the ultimate meal plan to build the ultimate body then carb cycling can be a tool to help you build muscle faster. Group this with meal timing and other things that may provide a benefit for advanced lifters, but for most people it isn't worth it. It may provide a 5% increase in performance, but compared to just sticking to a well structured program that 5% isn't much (think gaining 0.4lb/week of muscle for a man vs 0.42lb/week).

The OP lost ~2.5lb/week over the course of 9 months. It wasn't carb cycling so much as eating at a very low amount of calories that did it.

This is awesome and so inspirational! I'm pretty much at your starting point. Just picked up running again.

Did you eat back all of your exercise calories?

What was your calorie goal each day?

    Any tips or advices?

Thank you so,so much all . I still have a bit to go. I originally found inspiration watching the show "Extreme Weight Loss" with Chris Powell and his wife Heidi and got the book "Choose More Lose More" it really helped explain their carb cycling plan. I work out 45 minutes a day about 5 days a week pretty intensely. When I first started I was just walking or moving everyday and then worked my way up from there. I have a "cheat meal" once a week usually on Saturday or Sunday for lunch. It has worked for me because I don't feel deprived but still keep my calories pretty low. I also have found a love for Quest Bars as a sweet treat once a day usually at night time! Here is some more info on the carb cycling plan I follow: http://heidipowell.net/2724/carb-cycling-the-turbo-cycle/

From your before picture I would never have said you had 100lbs to lose! You must have carried it well :) Anyway congratulations on a huge accomplishment! You did 45 minutes of intense exercise every day.... That's a lot of work and you got great results from it. Good for you!
