I am considering the Stronglifts 5x5 method to lose weight.
I also want to do cardio 30-40 minutes a day

I am currently 268lbs and am only 5'2
I am not sure if this is the best method for me to lose weight/inches. (not trying to get bulky) Therefore, I was hoping those of you who have done it would share their success stories.

Please share your before/after pics, before and after weight, and tips/advise? How long did it take for progress?

I heard if I do heavy weights it will burn calories faster which in turn will make me lose weight faster, ideas? thoughts? theories?

I really want to lose some inches by June 18 since I am a bridesmaid and don't fit in my dress. Is this even possible?

Thanks for the support everyone! and for the success stories, I really appreciate it!

I think you're coming at this from the wrong angle. Resistance training in general is going to help you preserve lean mass while you're dieting...and while you do burn calories lifting, it's not monumental...and really, I try to get people to more or less disassociate their weight loss goals from their fitness with the reason being that ultimately you losing weight and inches is going to come down to your calorie deficit, not what program you're doing or not doing. Lifting/resistance training will help ensure that you have "that body" once you cut the fat.

As to the program itself, it is an excellent beginner strength program...it's basically an introduction to power lifting...it is designed to provide optimal strength gains...that is it's purpose. There are numerous programs out there which are programmed around various goals...some like New Rules or more general fitness oriented, etc. The benefits from lifting don't come from just doing a program and completing it...while this is a beginner program and shouldn't be run into perpetuity, people simply build on them...so it's not like doing Insanity or something and then completing it and, "what's next" kind of deal. The benefits from lifting come over time...like years though you obviously make progress as you go along from an aesthetic perspective.

you wont get bulky because you are female,we dont gain muscle like men due to lack of testosterone.

Ugh, you won't get bulky as you're not a man. How do we eliminate this mindset once and for all?

I lifted during my 50 pound weight loss, but not Stronglifts. I did some circuit training videos and eventually Jamie Eason's Live Fit. That was between the top two pics. Between top right and bottom left was when I was doing Stronglifts (which I actually did for an extended amount of time, about 6 months). Anyhow between those two pics I stayed the same weight but went down a couple of clothing sizes due to body recomp while doing Stronglifts and eating at maintenance. Doing Stronglifts during weight loss will not bulk you up and would be good for preserving your current muscle mass while on a calorie deficit.
