They are about 5 hours north of me right now.. I grew up in Fort Mac, so it hits close to home. We have a lot of evacuees coming through.

My buyer needs a reason why she suddenly came into some cash for the down payment....they told her it couldn't be a gift and that she needs to prove where the money came from. What the heck does it matter where it came from as long as she has the money?0

i assume they are required by some sort of anti-money laundering law. if you can't prove where it came from they can't prove its legit. you have our criminals to thank for this.0 -

That happened to me when we bought our house just 5 years ago. Mine was from a 401k but they did not ask for proof, I just had to write an explanation of where it came from. I imagine it won't be that easy for you but that is my only experience in that type of situation.0 -
I find it really stupid myself.....as long as they have the money the bank shouldn't care if it came from aliens or if it was buried in the back yard.1
