I didn't necessarily approve when my daughter got hers either but she's grown up so it's none of my business.

My parents were really strict and 100% against tattoos. I joined the Marines at 18 and went away to training. 1 year later I came back home with 4 large tattoos on my body, but not visible with a shirt on. They didn't have a clue until I left the door open while brushing my teeth without a shirt on....................the looks on their faces and their reactions were priceless. They even had to end up laughing at themselves and now don't have a problem with it.0 -

I can't put something permanent on something temporary so for that reason I won't get one, but I do understand why people like them. I say go for it if it's something that is meaningful to you.0 -
The complaints lasted a day, and occasionally brought up lines like "i still can't believe you did that," but they realize there is nothing they can do about it and it doesn't affect them or my career opportunities, so there is no point in bitching about it0

She first talked about it when she was like 15 but I asked her to wait until she turned 19....and she did wait. I still tried to talk her out of it but didn't threaten to disown her or anything. She has 3 tattoos now and she is 23 years old. And I love her the same with or without the tattoos. Parents just worry our kids will make a decision and regret it later (because all the other kids are doing it mom).0 -

I like that.
I'm scared to get inked because I have a fear the artist I get will suck or totally screw something up, and then I'm stuck with it, and explaining why this part looks stupid.0 -

All about researching the artists and asking for work done and also their drawings that they havn't used yet to see their style. The guy I use now has a 6 month wait list0 -
I've kinda wanted one before but not bad enough to actually go and do it. My mom got her first tattoo at age 70!! So maybe one day, but I doubt it.0
