I am proud to say that i am 5'10"
Right now I weight about 171 (lost some weight the first week i did MFP.. and then got off track and gained it back)
The heaviest I have been at least to my knowledge, since i def avoided scales for a while was about 195.
Last summer i got done to 160.
Right now I am about about a 10 or 12..more toward the 12 at this point.
I have been a heavy 16 before and glad that i have been able to keep some of the weight i lost off.
But i got to college and my healthy eating and regular exercise seemed to fly right out the window. So i made sure i got back on track this summer!
Trying to get into last summers shorts (size 8) was very frustratings and I felt as if i let myself down. It was a big slap in the face. I worked my butt off and taught myself the right way to eat and began to exercise but college was such a different life.
No mom to make sure that I am staying motivated.
I WANT TO FIT INTO MY FAVORITE PAIR OF SHORTS WHEN I GO ON VACATION WITH MY FAMILY.
So i want to get back down to about 155-160 and be able to actually maintain it.
I carry ALOT of my weight in my thighs and stomach. and my face!
My love my friends, but sometimes I get so frustrated. I am the health nut who would rather cook my dinner rather than go out and eat. But going out to dinner is a big way to socialize and i feel like I am missing out on times with friends. So if i end up going, i spend money that i didnt want to.. and feel really guilty. My friends dont have the same motivation i have to go to the gym and excercise. I feel SOO good afterward, but going alone all the time is what i like. BUTTTT my problem is that sometimes i really lack self control! It upsets and frustates me so much! even though i love to eat healthy, if "bad"..espcially sweet food is around i will eat it.
So another goal of mine is to HAVE THE CONTROL AND KNOW "and moment on the lips is forever on the hips" and the craving is usually not worth it.
I love this thread since it is for taller women and sometimes i feel like it is hard to be tall.0 -

Agreed!! Sometimes I wish I were petite haha0 -
Hi there! I am 5'11 and weigh 250. I wear a size 22. I would love to get down to 150, but really my goal is to fit into a size 10. To me that is the perfect size for me. So once I fit into a 10 comfortably, the actual weight number will be the weight I was meant to be at.
My workout routine is 30 minutes on the eliptical every day, two days a week I do a class called Body Pump, and than I swim 100 laps on Saturdays. I have been doing this routine for 6 months and have realized that its not the exercise of why I cannot lose weight. I joined this about 6 months ago and have now just started to seriously use it now that it is available on my ipod.
I bought myself a pair of pants that will probably be out of style when I fianlly lose the weight, but they are my motivation. Every time I break my diet or don't workout I try the pants on and I leave right for the gym!
If anybody has any good motivation tips please send them my way! I get very unmotivated easily!0 -

Socalmom said:I think the tall posters who want to be under 150 pounds have issues
Please, lets not get judgmental on this thread ... One thread was closed because of this kind of thing. To accuse people of having "issues" is not kind or productive. This should be a place of acceptance and motivation.
People have various bone structures. I remember being 130 lbs and a being size 6 at that weight. Nothing wrong with a 6. I have a feeling if it was someone who was 5'4 and a size 6, you wouldn't bat an eye. Weight is relative. Please be kind.
I guess you didn't get what that smiley was for. But since you raised the issue, this really is a whiny board.
News flash: Having good judgment is a good thing. Being able to discern between good, bad, wise, unwise is one's most valuable asset.
Now, in case you didn't get my poor attempt at humor above, I was teasing when I said that people who want to be very skinny have issues. Maybe MFP will have to start a new category for people who have a sense of humor.0 -
I'm 5'10.5" ... CW is 237.2, started on MFP at 260, which was my pre-pregnancy weight. My highest weight was 278 when I was pregnant with my son (who was born in February)
I wear a size 20 top, and an 18 bottom - both of which are starting to get loose on me!
I'm hoping to meet my first goal of 230 by the 17th of July for my BIL & SIL's wedding! I'm only 7.2 pounds off! I CAN DO IT!!
Nice to see all of these tall women striving to be healthy!
Health is of the most importance! Best of luck with all of your journeys!0 -
I'm 5'9" and currently 214lbs. I've lost 4lbs...yay! My goal weight is 150 but I'd love to get back to 148 as that was my slimmest.
I wear a size 14 (UK) top and bottom.0 -
I'm 6' tall, weigh 304, and wear a size 26.
I was approx 220 when I married, in 1996...and about a size 16/18.

Approx. 265 in 2001 when I concieved my second child.
Spent about 5 years at 278.
Moved to Oklahoma in Feb. 07 and weighed 300.
Went into depression, gained to 331, and joined TOPS Dec. 2008.
I am now down to 304 and I'm not quitting.0 -

I'm 6'1 and weigh 250. Just starting on this site today. You all who have lost weight already are very motivating, good job! My first goal is to get to 210 which is where I was when I got pregnant with my first child. I know I'll still need to lose at that point but that's what I'm starting with. I'm a size 18 now.0

I had to click on this one! (Maybe I can make some tall friends!)
I'm 5'10" and normally weigh 140. I'm currently at 147 due to some diet issues haha.
My pants size is usually 7-9ish but I recently bought some pants that were size 6? I don't know, I don't get it.
I'd like to be at 130-135. Everyone guesses I'm 120 and I know I weigh more because of my muscle mass but sometimes it's still kinda hard to explain that I weigh 20 pounds more than I look like I do.
It would be great to weigh 120 but with how much I work out, that number just doesn't seem reasonable or even healthy. I need my strength, I would never sacrafice that just to say I weigh less!0 -
Wow, it is so nice to see so many tall women on here. I am 6' and 295. I currently wear a size 20 and am hoping to get down to 175. My heaviest was 305 and my healthiest was 170. I start to look sick if I get below 170. I am so happy to see so many other women who are going through the same things I am. It is hard to really get other women to understand how I truly feel when they are only 5'5" and weigh 170 and think they are so overweight. Can't really make them understand that I am really tall and can't weigh as little as they can. Heck, I wouldn't want to. I wear a size 4-5 when I am at 170 and that is fine with me! Oh yeah and my addiction to designer clothes makes it very difficult for me to survive at my current weight! LOL0

I am 5'9.25'' so I think I qualify for the TALLER portion of this title
I am currently 184lbs (started at 204.8 in July) and my goal weight is anywhere from 150-165!!! I'm going to go with how my body feels & how my clothes fit instead of focusing so much on the scale when I get down there..Also, I started in a 16 size jean and am currently wearing size 12!0 -
I'm 5'9.5" and I'm currently 165.4. My goal was 135 but now it's 145 or 155. 135 I was a 6 and may have been a bit too thin now that I look back on it. I am shooting for 145 then rebuild with lean mass.0

Hi everyone -- I am just under 5'9" and got my official weigh-in of 136 at the doctor's office yesterday. I've lost about 87 pounds total. Not all on MFP because I didn't know about it until early Sept. When I joined. I am a size 8 or 10 and wear a size 6 Jean. Dream of fitting into a 4 but I don't think so! I am very happy at my goal range! Love MFP and the wonderful friends I have made here.
I would love to see some before & after pics. I posted some a couple of weeks back, but someone had to correct them for me on the site.
Good luck everyone in tracing your goals. You can do it!0 -
Hello everyone! I am 5' 12" and that is 1.82 m for the metric folk also I am 187 lbs and wear a size 8.
I don't really know what my goal is, and I think I will change it on MFP because I really don't think it's realistic that I'm going to lose 31lbs. Because i have a whole heck of a lot of muscle, and it's all in my thighs (oh yeah, my back and arms too. too much muscle!) but I think if I lose a little fat the muscle will look better! hopefully?! I am thinking somewhere around 170 would be really awesome
You know, every day I realize something that is easier to do since I am tall. And I love it. Glad to see all the tall people and please feel free to friend me!0 -
What do you weigh and what size? What are your goals? Any before and after pics?
I weigh 215lbs at 34 weeks pregnant. My usual weight is 168lbs not pregnant, usually a size 10.
My weight goal is 150lbs.
I'm 5'10"0 -
Just realized this is an old thread but I'll post too because us tall gals need to stick together!
I'm 5'9" and currently weight 142. I started MFP at 157.7 highest I had been in years and really unhappy with how I looked. My goal is 135. I currently wear anything from a 6-10 depending on the cut and will probably stay in that size range. I am curvy (although the girls are deflating daily!) so fitted things will always be on the upper end to get over my butt. Good thing I have a good tailor!0 -
WOW, this is my first week on MFP and I was looking for some tall women to communicate with because our height makes the weight loss challenge quite a bit different than for other women.
I am 6' tall and currently weight 269 and wear a size 20 pants and an US 18 top. I am a seriously pear shaped woman.
When I weight 220, I wore a size 16 pants and a size 12 top. I think my goal this time around is 185 which I am hoping is about a size 10 top/12 bottom for me.
I'd love to hear some encouraging words, fitness tips and advice from some of the other tall women out there..0
