An Open Letter to Cottage Cheese

Dear cottage cheese -
I want to apologize. I have talked a lot of smack about you and you don't deserve that. You've never been a staple in my diet and I have always said many bad things about you.
The truth is, I tried you once as a child and at that point, you were probably the worst thing I ever tasted. I'm not sure why it took me close to twenty years to give you a second chance - but a few days ago, in a moment of braveness, I picked you up and brought you home.
You sat around for another three days before I had the courage to try you - and the truth is, you're actually not so bad. I could get used to you.
Thanks for being full of protein and having different varieties and stuff.
Sincerely,
Me.
Ps I'd like to extend similar apologies to foods like avocado and Greek yogurt.

I love cottage cheese. I used to like it as a kid but then I suddenly hated it. Now I have a newfound love for it again. Cottage cheese with some chives and pepper with crackers is such a tasty snack0

I just can't with cottage cheese. I want to like it but I just can't get past the lumpiness.1

cottage cheese and crushed pineapple, or frozen blueberries, or with fresh cantaloupe makes a nice light meal or snack.1

I eat it every single day. Love my cottage cheese!1

That's the kind I bought and that's what I did. I also had it with egg in a sort of sandwich this morning.0 -
I like it with pepper and Italian seasoning, some crushed red pepper or with lots of fresh chopped veggies mixed in.

I didn't know cottage cheese came in different flavors. I guess it's been a while since I've had it, too!
My favorite was always cottage cheese with pineapple though. I might need to get back into that.1 -

Boy, does it ever! I don't think I would have had the courage to get it if I had to get plain stuff. Maybe one day.0 -
Just had some with pineapple for brunch. Delicious!1

I love cottage cheese with just some pepper on top. So delicious.4

I pretty much only get it with pineapple. My sister hates it. If I wasn't weighing out my portions, I'd probably eat the whole tub.0

I used to eat it as a kid but it seems so salty to me now.1

Plain cottage cheese is great mixed with olive tapenade, or Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning Salute.0

Dear Chi,
That was big of you to admit. Thank you for that. (The avocado and greek yogurt families also thank you. The yogurts can be so sour sometimes so this is big of them!).
My friends, Protein Powder, PB2 and CinnamonandSplenda request they be invited to a mixer altho I prefer to be one on one with them. )

Thank you, Cottage Cheese. I appreciate that you took the time to respond to me. It means a lot. I will definitely consider that in the future.

I can't stand greek yogurt. I am scared to try cottage cheese... I want to though, be very helpful with eating protein.0

I was really grossed out by cottage cheese as a kid and wouldn't touch the stuff. I just discovered how it can be good and dressed up at age 22. I love adding it to my salad.
My favorite version of cottage cheese? Add a savory dressing (I like creamy caesar or a peppercorn ranch that used to be at my work), and Mrs. Dash.
On top of that, pepperoni slices, spinach, tomatoes, peas, ham, literally anything.
I haven't quite worked up the courage to try sweet cottage cheese yet...but I think it could be good with green apple slices.0 -

Ummm what! What are the flavors? I've never actually gone shopping for cottage cheese, just eat it at the restaurant I work at as my side job. Tell me more about the flavors!!0 -

I definitely prefer cottage cheese as my main protein at night, but when my store is out of the only brand I'll eat, some Fage 0% greek yogurt is substituted. I can only really eat greek yogurt if I mix stuff into it (like the protein powder or pb2 and some splenda). Otherwise it's wayyyyyyyy too sour for my taste.0 -

Yes! When I actually decided I was gonna get some I was like "What? Choices? No way! Should I get chive & onion or garden vegetable?" I went with chive & onion. But they also had a pineapple one and maybe another fruit one plus two or 3 other flavors.0 -
I was in the same boat as you when I was a kid. You couldn't pay me enough money to eat cottage cheese or alvocados.
I did find a new level of enjoyment and respect for them both as an adult.
I like to eat my cottage cheese with some unsweetened applesauce and cinnamon or use it as the "mayo" with tuna salad.0 -
I eat it for breakfast, and a lot of times with dinner as well. I'll go through two containers a week most of the time.0
-
No flavoured stuff here, but my husband introduced me to a good combo: half an avocado filled with cottage cheese and some chilli sauce3
-
My absolute favorite way to eat it is stirred into chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocado with garlic, salt and pepper.
It shouldn't be as delicious as it really is.
Sometimes I throw a little green onion on there, too.1 -
I'm glad you two made up, I just can't even with cottage cheese. It's the texture for sure.0
