I had been wanting to lose weight for years but never had the willpower to stick to it for more than a day lol Then a co-worker suggested we have a contest to see who could lose the most weight in a month. I said sure, what have I got to lose except weight, right? Then, the people who weren't participating started placing side bets on who would win! I just became determined to win. Somehow, those side bets fueled me in the first month. It wasn't just about me anymore. I didn't want to let down the ones who had confidence in me, and I also wanted to show the ones who didn't think I could do it that yes, I could do it! Well...... I lost that bet by ONE POUND!!! Lol but that's OK, bc I'm the only one still losing weight.8

I married in my late 20's and spent the entirety of my 30's struggling with infertility and secondary infertility. After our first arrived after three long years of treatments and drugs and then 2 successful rounds of IVF...my 4th daughter was a 40th birthday miracle! Those years took a major physical toll on my body so I decided to do something about it once I was done breast feeding my surprise!!
Infertility can be caused by a variety of diseases and medical conditions and affects about one in six men and women of reproductive age.

I could see my daughter not being very active - and growing "the wrong way". Decided it was time to make a change for all our sakes. It's now been 3 years, the three of us have lost a combined 180 pounds or so. We are still active every day.8

My father.... He has diabetes, 4 stints on his heart, he had melanoma and carcinoma. He also just had colon cancer. I was also diagnosed as prediabetic. 44 pounds lost so far.... 56 to go!4

I'm gonna be an aunt again! I don't want to be the fat aunt stuck at home alone with a bunch of cats. I feel so old and I'm only 26. I want to feel my age5

My pants kept ripping, and I could only blame weak fabric for so long.
My daughter wants to go outside and play with mama, and that doesn't work if I'm exhausted just from being alive.
My fiancée thinks I'm hot, and I want to prove it to myself, too.5 -
I want to be able to enjoy sex again without feeling so self conscious of my body!
Husband doesn't care and loves me whatever, but I care. I also want to set a good example to my kids.7 -
when i graduated i weighed 180 at age 55 i was up to 355. everything was hard to do. started low carb in january and am down 57 with no exercise. goal is 220. shooting for that around christmas

I've been in denial! I kept seeing photos of myself posted on Facebook and thinking "Yikes! That's me?? I look so fat!" I'd write it off as a bad picture or bad outfit, bad week.. but after a couple years those are becoming the only pictures of me around. Final straw was when I was organizing my closet and realized most of my clothes were getting thrown in the "skinny pile.. for when I get back in shape" and I've been living in about 10% of my closet that I bought in the last few years.. mainly thigh long shirts and tunics to hide. No more!!1

Last year I became healthy and lost a decent amount of weight. Since I lost weight I bought a bunch of new clothes, then I gained all of the weight back. It sucked that I was in a position where my fat clothes were once again getting too tight to wear. So I started again knowing the hardest part for me is sticking to it. I just need to have discipline and remember that if I never quit, I never have to start again.4

This past December 17th...the December 17th prior (2014) I quit Diet Coke cold turkey and haven't had one since. I lost 15lbs just from not drinking the stuff. Then this December 17th I decided that I wanted to make the year I turned 50 great and in order to do so I wanted to feel great.....so that morning I told myself I'm doing this for me AND I have!!!!! Love having control of my food choices and feeling good about them!4

I fell in love.
After the honeymoon period of a blooming relationship of the first year or so I realised that this was the man I want to marry and have children with. But I'm in my early thirties, and I can't assume getting pregnant when we're ready will be easy. Weight and health has a significant burden on this, so I told myself I would prepare a healthier home for babies, and a healthier mother for when they arrive.
I had my last cigarette on 31st December 2015 - stopping cold after smoking for 16 years. Since then have been slowly working on managing my food and moving. No diet, no compromises, just better choices.
This is the key difference to my previous efforts - those were just for me, this time around it's for a future family.9 -
Been at this dead end job for over 10 years; I'm hoping that a fitter, younger looking me will be more appealing in the current economic climate.4

My doctor told me I wouldn't live to see my toddler son graduate from high school if I didn't lose weight.3

Went to a cardiologist because of chest pain (turns out pain was not my heart) but still he said by 65 (I'm 40 now) I will likely have a heart attack or diabetes if I don't lose weight. My heart is 1-2mm thicker than it should be due to pumping more blood because of more body mass. These words were the slap I needed. I need to lose 100 lbs he said. Yikes. It's only been 10 days but I have eaten better in the last 10 days than the last 8 years.4

I've never really decided to change per sae. I've enjoyed lifting and being active for almost four decades now.0

I was tired of hating myself, since I'm an A+ person. I wanted to stop hating the way that I look in photos.1

Summer 2015 saw me at 272lb, 51years old, on blood pressure meds, so much pain in an arthritic knee that it was hard for me to move never mind do the things I like to do. My husband died of cancer in 2011 and I had spent 4 years not really wanting to live but something clicked in August and I became determined to make a change. It was so hard at first but I stuck with MFP, Fitbit and regular exercise and am now reaping the rewards. I am off blood pressure meds, down 82lbs, my knee still hurts but it doesn't stop me and this coming summer I am walking 62 miles from Melrose in Scotland to Lindisfarne. Grief still looms large but I am much more resilient than I was and much more able to enjoy the good moments on this journey.9

I couldn't ride a roller coaster with my son. That was that. It was time to change. 105 lbs later I'm going to an amusement park in 2 weeks and I'm so excited!1

I had been wanting to lose weight for years.. In 2014 I lost 30 pounds but quicky gained it back after some unfortunately personal events. I have also been wanting to go skydiving for years and I went last week for my birthday. Turns out there is a weight limit and I was 5 pounds away from not being able to do my first jump. The jumpsuit I had to wear was awkwardly tight and I was the only person in the grey/largest size suit. I felt embarrassed of almost not even being able to zip up my suit and scared to sit in fear that the zipper might bust in front of everyone. Luckily it didn't. I want to go skydiving for my birthday again next year without the embarrassment and uncomfortable jumpsuit. So far I have lost 4.2 pounds and it is not stopping there. With 100 pounds to lose, this year is my year to quit the excuses.2
