I am currently 400 lbs and want to be at 250-275 as my goal. Should I start at 2lbs a week, 1.5 lbs, or 1 lb for my goal?

At your current weight, a loss of 2 lbs per week is not unrealistic. As you get closer to your goal/ideal weight, however, it becomes increasingly difficult to sustain a weekly weight loss of that much, and you will want to reduce your goal to 1 lb or a 1/2 lb per week.Welcome to MFP!

your weekly goal is what YOU want it to be. I currently weigh 215 and mine is set for 2 lbs a week and my goal is 140, the closer I get to my goal the less my weekly goal will be set at.

I guess i can set it for 2 lbs a week which is 2580 calories. At 1.5 lbs it is 2800 calories. I can see how hungry i feel at 2lbs a week, and change it from there i suppose.0

That is a sensible approach. Better to have a slower more sustainable weight loss if going lower each week proves to be an issue for you.0
