Actually, dietary cholesterol has now been shown to have no correlation to blood cholesterol levels.
It's also beneficial for hormone production.

Thanks for wording that better than I did. You're good at that. :)

My mother died from heart disease recently... it had nothing to do with dietary cholesterol.

It's also vital for healthy nerve cells ie: brain development. You've got a baby in your profile pic.

"A new national study has shown that nearly 75 percent of patients hospitalized for a heart attack had cholesterol levels that would indicate they were not at high risk fora cardiovascular event, based on current national cholesterol guidelines."

Perhaps you are actually saying "Yes"...

I eat largely a whole foods diet that includes meat...took my LDL from 168 to 93.

Eating meat doesn't cause heart disease. Also, there is no direct correlation between dietary cholesterol and blood serum levels.

Lol...I eat 12 or more eggs per week. Meat at least 4 times. I have incredible healthy cholesterol levels. But I also eat lots of veggies, fruits, legumes, and whole grains. So...just say YES to eating in moderation.

Cholesterol homeostasis is vital to proper brain activity. Which would explain a few things here. Also, stellar first post.

Rarely do I literally laugh out loud at a retort. Good Stuff

One also has to be careful of the (really) high carb (ultra) low fat fad going around in vegan circles. Consuming more carbs than one burns is actually resulting in more than a few vegans ending up with high LDL and low HDL cholesterol.

There's such a thing as too low of cholesterol causing issues, has your doctor said anything to you about your number? Mine was at 150 and my doctor didn't want me to get it any lower, so I actually stopped taking fish oil because that can lower it even more. Now it's 167 and my doctor is pretty happy with it there. Just curious to what you're hearing from your doctor :)

I am eating a plant-based diet and I know there are conflicting thoughts about cholesterol and such, but I'm happy with it and that's the point  everyone should eat what makes them feel satisfied and happy
