I'm thinking on starting isagenix to kick off my weight loss, a lot of close family have lost a lot of weight on it. I just wanted second opinions!

Scam.
Ask yourself what is it exactly that you need to detox from? If your kidneys aren't doing the job for you, you need a hospital, not a scammy MLM scheme.

Here's a pretty good ongoing thread about the topic:

I have a friend who tried to get me to use it. She sells it. She has lost 20 lbs while on it - I have lost 45 lbs without it. She took a break and gained 25 lbs back , I took a break and ate at maintenance and stayed the same.28

Didn't Dr. Oz promote this "deep fat burning, and cleanse system".....the only reason I need to steer clear of it.
You don't jumpstart a lifestyle change. You live a new lifestyle....that's what gives you the tools to keep the weight off.9 -
Avoid it.
I have a FB friend who sells it. She has yet to post her own progress pics and some of the ones that she does post are ones she found on Google.5 -
Your body doesn't need a detox. Your body detoxes on its own. If it ever stops, you will know *very* quickly and end up in the hospital on dialysis.
Anytime someone tries to sell you a miracle weight loss or health product, ask yourself, if it really works so well, why hasn't the creator put it through clinical trials, gotten FDA approval, and made more money than Viagra, rather than depending on a cheesy MLM company to get desperate people to try to sell it to their family and facebook friends?10 -
What does your manual say? Mine says my model year needs no added cleansing. YMMV2
-
It's woo designed to scam gullible people. Don't be those people.3
-
Second opinion:
It's a useless MLM scam and the only person who benefits from it is the one selling it to you.

Any pill/drink/powder that is being sold by someone who just paid to have a "business starter kit" and is now promoting weight loss - just run. At least then are burning more calories than the crap they are pushing.3
-
I did it a few years ago. Steer clear. It's not worth the small fortune to hand over to this MLM. Just eat less than you burn. You can do this-feel free to add me, I comment and support where I can.
Do you know what happens when you stop buying their shake system? You start gaining weight. The "cleanse" system they sell you is two shakes a day and a lunch 500 cals and under of your choice (2011 is when I did this. Obviously things could be different now but this was my experience). Each shake is 240 calories. You're only eating 980 calories tops per day. And the detox day? You drink 16oz of the most disgusting liquid you can imagine. And that's all you have all day aside from chalky little "chocolate" discs. IIRC it was roughly 200cal that day. Not worth it, OP. You can lose the weight without handing your hard earned dollars to this scam company.2 -
I use the shakes/bars and love it. I do not sell the stuff nor do I do the cleanses but I like the shakes for the convenience and the bars are better quality and taste than Quest bars. So I may not be the Isazombie that everyone complains about but I have managed to make it work for me and my life choices.5

Its one of the most silly things ever. Everyone I know on it got jacked at losing 10-18 lbs in the first month, which isn't uncommon when your starting out anyway, didn't learn a thing and just piled the weight back on later. There is no quick fix.3
-
The only supplement I've used is nutritional yeast, which I eat just for the flavor and B vitamins. That being said, I've managed to lose over 40lbs! You definitely DON'T need supplements in order to lose weight. You're better off saving your money and making sustainable lifestyle changes.1

Garbage3

I tried it before and it made me terribly sick. I could not digest the shakes and bars and I ended up in the hospital. My doctor said it is all garbage.2
-
Usually these things are scams/do not work, but even besides that, weight loss pills/shakes etc are not a good idea because you do not learn anything on how to make a lifestyle change to keep the weight off in the future. Sure, it may help you lose 10-20 lbs at first, but once you lose that weight, what have you actually learned to help you keep that weight off? Nothing. Its a quick fit that may or may not work, and does not teach you anything on how to exercise or proper nutrition. That's why I believe weight loss pills/shakes are a bad idea.2

I know someone who sells it. By the way she talks, I would have thought that she lost a big amount--nope, turns out in years of taking it, she only lost 30 pounds. Lately, it looks like she has gained all of that back.
You can do better with real food.2 -
I foolishly bought into it and hated the shakes, but was too lazy to turn off delivery. I ended up with 24 unopened shake cans (yes, crazy!).
They had been sitting in the house collecting dust and one day my husband got sick of them and decided to drink them as meal replacements. He drank 1-2 a day and added a banana and some PB. In the course of a year he dropped from 280-230. He of course was exercising and making better choices, but it did help him. He's also thr type to be happy with a daily shake or 2 so he doesn't have to think about what to eat. He's the type of person who can be happy constantly eating the same thing (not me!).
So for him it worked and he has kept the weight off for a few years now. Once he ran out of shakes hr never bought more and no longer drinks his meals. He has also never calorie counted either.
With that said, i would still strongly advise against it. If you want to go the shake route there are many others out there that taste better and are way cheaper.0 -

The Nutrisystem Meal Replacement chocolate shakes are amazzzziiiiiiiinnnggg in flavor! My dad had bought some for himself as a meal replacement/snack and had me taste it! I use them as snacks sometimes and love them! 150 calories per bottle. And $5 for a pack of 6 Hands down the best chocolate drink I've ever tasted in my life lol0 -
Isagenix is not just cleansing. It is not just about weightloss but has plans for weight maintenance and a performance line with preworkout and post workout powders. As well anything you get what you put into it. Follow the plan and it works. I use their products and love them. I have tried others and did not like them. I still eat real food and am not starving all the time. I love their products and recommend them to anyone who asks me how I lost my weight.2

You don't need to be kick started, you are not a motorcycle. Eat less than you burn and the weight will come off. It is not easy but it is that simple.3

Nope.2 -
She asked for an opinion. I gave my opinion. Not trying to force it on anyone just an opinion. Wasn't scripted.2

Of course they have a plan for weight maintenance and performance line. How else would they keep making money? You don't need to keep buying into their program. The "maintenance pack" used to be $130 a month. No thanks. My total protein supplement for the month costs me $40 and tastes like a milkshake.
And it is about cleansing and weight loss. They tout their program as "detox your system, you have TOXINS in your blood!!!" and make little disclaimers like "this isn't a weight loss product but may help you lose weight" which is a line straight out of Marketing 101.2 -
If you need to "detox" your system, you belong in the hospital. Not online!2

I know three people who used it, lost weight, then gained the weight back once they stopped. Unless you plan to stay on it for life then save your cash.0

Ironically my daughter asked me what i think of isagenix yesterday... I sent her a wall of text telling her what i think, to which she replied " Yes mum, I know it's a 'triangle scheme' , but i know a couple of people who have done really well on it" and ended saying "i just have to do a couple weeks of overtime before i can afford it".
I just wanna cry! Kids, they have to learn for themselves :sad:3
