Unfortunately many of us do not live near NCSU where the official event takes place each year.

However, there is no reason why we cannot do this on our own. I plan to complete the challenge at a local track and record it on video. The rules are as follows:
Run 2.5 miles
Eat one dozen Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (or 2,400 calories of your local favorite doughnut if Krispy Kreme is not available).
Run 2.5 more miles
There is a 60 minute time limit:

Currently I am doing Stronglifts 5x5 and training for a marathon. I enjoy my routine but appreciate some variety once in a while!
If there is enough interest in this challenge, I may start a MFP Group where we can all participate in some sort of extreme challenge each week.

I read about this in a running magazine. I'm up for a challenge usually, just not this one.
And there are no Krispy Kreme here.0 -
I hate Krispy Kreme, can I just run the five miles instead???0
-
You know, this actually sounds like an eating challenge I could accomplish.0

You can replace them with your 2400 calories of favorite doughnut instead. Just running 5 miles without the doughnuts would not really be in the spirit of the challenge0 -

Awesome! Who else wants to join us?
If enough people respond I will start a MFP group where we can all upload our videos and discuss future challenges as well0 -
I'll make it 2,400 of Dunkin' Donuts. If I can find one near my college, that is. I'm kinda down for this challenge...0
-
I'll have the Krispy Kreme's if someone runs for me!0

Awesome! Should we all do this on the same day or just whenever it is convenient? I think it would be cool to record the experience so we can share the fun with others!0 -
my knees say NOOOOO to running sorry mate.0
-
Can I eat the doughnuts as I cheer you on from the sidelines? :happy:0
-
As I went to NC State, I have visited that Krispy Kreme any number of times. Never ran there though. Usually it was a stop after the bars closed.0
-
I attempted it 3 years ago?
Couldn't do it.0 -
I like the idea of the Iowa State Doughnut Run better... http://triathlon.stuorg.iastate.edu/tri/?q=DoughnutRun
I would probably die from all that sugar, but it would (possibly) be worth it.0 -
the most shocking thing to me in this thread is that a dozen KKs are only 2400cals.
a dozen DD glazed is 3120.
Krisy Kreme is the LOW CAL alternative! i.e., "diet food" (lolz)0 -
I could totally do it... I pass right by a DD on my 4 mile loop from my gym... it hits right at the top of 3 miles.. so I could then run 2
but, ehh.. I'm lazy and that sounds like work *the stopping to eat part*0 -

This. Make them original glazed only though and i'll do it!
Sadly there is only 1 donut shop that I know of in this metropolis and its nowhere nearby. AND they got crappy donuts0 -
Eating a dozen KKs isn't something I find to be a "challenge". Running 5 miles on the other hand... I'm not quite there yet.0
-
I grew up on KK. My family goes every year around Christmas time to look at lights and eat donuts. I have a soft spot for it. I'd definitely be down!
The challenge kind of reminds me of the Chipotle challenge and that made quite a few of my friends puke when they tried it.0 -
I foresee stomach pains lol0
-
If you eat the Kreme filled ones you almost double the calories! 4080 calories for a dozen. Maybe during the start of my bulk I will do that. I used to eat a dozen anyway.0
-
I did this challenge this past February. It's not as bad as you think it is.
The hardest part is definitely eating all the doughnuts. Once you stomach that though, it's not so bad. I enjoyed it and it kept me from eating another doughnut for the next 6 months!
My time was 45:16. I beat the challenge Pic in my profile of me at the Krispy Kreme.0 -
I work nearby, and a lot of my coworkers participate. I LOVE kk, to the point that I can't be near them because I WILL eat every one in site. However I've never participated because I'm pretty sure I would ralph at some point during the second leg of the race, and I never like to toss my cookies. That would just be such a waste of glorious kk doughnuts....0
-
I can't even eat three donuts...0
-
I might do a modified version of this... I can't eat a dozen donuts by myself! XD I think I'll get my bro to go in on it with me0
-
I feel like I would throw up.... scary challenge.0
-
I'm interested, except for the donuts eating part of it.0
-
I might join in modified for fun.
I can barely eat two donuts and I don't run.
So one donut and a jog? AT LEAST I'M TRYING. T_T0 -
Had no idea "challenges" like this existed! crazy0
-
You hate Krispy Kreme???
I love them. It's one of the reasons I HAD to join MFP. LOL0 -
Like variety, huh? I challenge you to make this, eat it, then go run:
