So weak

Everytime I lose weight I feel very weak, tired, dizzy and I get anxiety. I'm not underweight, in fact I'm in my weight range I just want to lose a few pounds for summer. Does anyone else feel this way?

You likely feel that way due to eating too little.9

I'm eating around 1050-1150 calories a day. I gain weight when I eat around 1300-1400 a day. So eating low calorie seems to be the only way I can actually lose weight, and I'm not losing weight fast either.0

How do you gain weight at such low calorie counts? Doesn't seem right.3
-
I'm a hypochondriac (health anxiety) which seems to be worse when I'm hungry, so as the others said it could be that you're not eating enough.1
-
I'm not sure. I can't really maintain weight. I lost 60 pounds a few years ago by eating 1250 calories a day, then I got lazy and started eating around 1400 calories a day and gained about 8 pounds so now I'm going back to lower calories. When I lost 60 pounds I feel the same way I do now, very weak and tired0

It could also be iron deficiency, I've had that too and I felt tired and weak. Maybe get checked out by your doctor.0

Oh ok I didn't even think of that! Thanks0

I don't exercise, I used to when I was a few pounds heavier. I usually feel too tired to exercise. I'm 5'6 and 133 pounds. Which is apparently healthy, my lowest weight was 124 and I want to be about 126-127 for summer0
-
I'm 5'5" and got down to 130lbs in my 20's but I felt terrible and was unable to sustain that weight for long without eating less and less. I'd consider what is worse, the way you're feeling now or not losing any more weight. I know I'd be happy at 154lbs which is just over a healthy BMI but I know I couldn't maintain happily any lower weight than that.0

So could it be that my body just can't handle being at a Lower weight?0

Is there a food scale in your life? You could be under-eating now, and you might have been doing more than 1400 when you gained.2

Yeah I weigh my food and leave about 100 calories at the end of the day because I know calories can legally be 20% off the actual number0

I'm 5'6". My "preferred" weight is 130. Right now I'm at about 135 (menopause). I'd never make it on 1100 calories. And I'm 51. I'm betting you're a bit younger.0 -
Yes I'm 22, are you losing or maintaining? What's your caloric intake?0

Eh?0 -
Like if a package of oatmeal is 100 calories, it doesn't mean it's exactly 100, it can be up to 20% more or less0

Usually more0
-
Which is why you weigh everything then you know exactly how many calories.6

Perhaps if you opened your diary we could offer better advice? Like ditching the already digested oatmeal (I'm only sort of kidding) and eating steel cut or just slow cook oats instead.... More bang for your caloric buck. Yes, oatmeal is just one data point, but seeing your diary would help...0 -

Proof?
You're undereating. Eat more and build some muscle and you'll be better off long term. You're so young and setting yourself up for a lifetime of sluggish metabolism and weakness eating that little.3 -

I don't know, really, I don't really count calories. Somewhere around 1800 maybe?
I've been maintaining about 15 years, but am trying to lose the 5 menopause gave me.1 -

I said before that whenever I eat more and work out I gain weight. I have a hard time maintaining so it's either eat low calories or eat more and work out which would only lead me to gain weight in unwanted areas0 -
Do you also feel dizzy and tired while maintaining or only when you diet?
If you always feel weak you need to get checked. I tend to have problems maintaining my iron and B12 sometimes and as soon as I start feeling dizzy I know for a fact it's time to get a checkup.
If it's only when dieting, have you tried not lowering your calories? To be honest, I find it unlikely that you would gain on 1300 calories and then (putting your maintenance at somewhere around 1200 or less). Are you sure you really are gaining and not really panicking about the initial gain caused by extra food? How much are you losing when you are averaging 1100 calories? 1 pound a month? Do you feel too weak to exercise right when you start dieting or are you always too weak to exercise?
It looks to me that some of it might be mental. Dieting is a pretty mental process. So instead of lowering your calories try to eat at maintenance, but then create your deficit by exercise alone. A 15-20 minute relatively easy jog would give you the deficit to lose that 1 pound a month you are currently losing without having to lower your calories.1 -
I would recommend getting checked out by a doctor. They can run tests and check your blood for deficiencies.0

Do you do any strength training? Or only cardio? Or anything at all?0

When I was eating about 1400 calories a day I gained 8 pounds over the course of like 4 months which is why I'm back on a low caloric diet because I gained so much weight so fast. I've been eating 1050-1150 calories for about 25 days and have lost 3 pounds. I'm just always tired. I'm usually always too tired to exercise which is why I think it might be a deficiency. Thank you!
