I eat that or less every meal. My goal is 25% or less in my total daily calorie intake. I have pcos and am insulin resistant. I also struggle to maintain my vitamin d levels.

You may want to look into a ketogenic diet where we limit cabs to under 20 g per day. There are a lot of groups on FB you can join where they can help you get started. I am part of the Ketogenic Dieters page and the results are amazing. A lot of ppl are diabetic and have found (if you are type 2) that through this lifestyle alone they have been able to get off their meds and control their insulin resistance strictly by changing to this way of eating! Good luck!!

Are you sure your doctor has given you proper directions? 35, is that grams of carbohydrate, or calories from carbohydrate? How many meals are you supposed to eat per day, and how many calories? 35 grams x 3 meals = 105 grams, at four meals, it's 140 grams, and that's plenty unless you are very tall and/or active - on 1200 calories, it's 35 or 47% carbs; on 1500 calories, it's 28 or 37% carbs, and within the "moderate" range, which means you can eat normal food and pick ordinary recipes.

Have you seen a dietician? My dad was type II and he didn't need to do keto or low carb...he had to make better choices and eat more quality carbohydrates from things like oats and beans and other whole grains and plenty of veg and limit his "junk" foods. My dad worked with a dietician. "Cleaning" up his diet and losing some weight helped immensely.

If you really need to go that low, you're looking more towards a high fat diet and mostly veg

I'm insulin resistant and aim for 35 grams carbs per day. Eating very low carb is a challenge, but the results have been amazing. There is a low carb group here on My Fitness Pal, just send a request. There are many helpful, informative people in the group that will answer any questions you might have. Good luck!

35 grams per meal isn't that difficult, unless you are accustomed to eating 300 carbs a day. Meat, cheese, a lot of vegetables are low/no carb. My mom is diabetic and has to follow similar guidelines so it is doable. You should probably see a registered dietician if you don't know what lower carb options are. Also, Google low carb foods.

I eat between 50-80 g per day. My diary is public (I don't usually log but I did log the whole month of May as part of a challenge). Feel free to peruse my diary for ideas.

35 g per meal gives you a LOT of flexibility. Obviously low carb foods (and what should be the basis of a low carb diet) are meat, poultry, fish, eggs, fibrous veggies (think leafy greens and crucifirous veggies), low sugar and savory fruit (like berries, avocados, peppers, squash, and eggplant), seeds and nuts, and full fat dairy. With such a high carb allowance, you can easily fit in modest portions of grains (whole is preferable), starchy veggies, and some higher sugar fruit. I second checking out this group. It's where most of us Ketofiles tend to hang out.
