OK now you all make me feel older than dirt. I heard that I would have to eat at least 3 times a day, better would be 5 times a day (small portions of course). That would curb on the metabolism. Is that yesterday's news as well?

Is that my generation that came up with, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day?"

It's important to find out what works for you. For myself, I eat 6x a day. I find for ME it helps me to maintain a caloric deficit while also keeping me feeling satisfied throughout the day. I tried the 3x a day in the past and found, again for me, that doing so I was starving by the time my meals rolled around and I over ate the calories I should have been.

I spent literal decades with my breakfast being coffee and cigarettes, and my lunch being coffee and cigarettes. Funny thing, I still gained weight as I ate ridiculously large dinners and copious amounts of ice cream/chips etc in the evening.

Now I eat a good breakfast, a good lunch, a couple snacks and a sensible dinner and I'm steadily losing.

Experiment. Find what works for you to keep hitting your calorie goals and keep yourself feeling satisfied with the calories you should be eating.

I am having a much better day today and I feel great. I didn't eat breakfast, started my normal work routine and around a lunchtime I was ready to eat something. I didn't feel as hungry as the days before when I started the day with a breakfast (that I didn't want).

I am glad I asked here. Thank you all for your input. I guess we all "tick" differently and have to figure out what works for us and what doesn't.

Best of all, now I will have calories left over for dinner time and can have a glass of wine or a skinny drink if I feel like it.

This is what I do too! I was also raised on the whole "breakfast is the most important meal, eat 6 times a day" stuff. But when you think about what breakfast actually means (you are breaking your fast) the first meal of the day is technically "breakfast" no matter when it happens, or what kinds of foods it entails. I find I'm not genuinely hungry until 11am-1pm, depending, and I prefer larger meals rather than smaller meals and snacks in between. And I love having the ability to have a snack or a drink after my kids go to bed. Ends the day right ;)

Glad it's working out for you!!
