Thought beans were healthy?

Complex carbs are good for you. Like beans sweet potatoes and whole grains ands fruits. Carbs from white bread, candies and sugary sweets are no good and turn into fat. If you don't eat complex carbs your not going to get much fibre which is great for weight loss and it's good for feeling full0

Terrible comment. OP (and everyone else on earth), please ignore.
I avoid carbs because they make me hungry. But there's nothing wrong or unhealthy about them if you have a decent diet overall.
Yes, this includes pure sugar. And Nutter Butters. And Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby.3 -

1/2 cup broccoli = 3g protein; 1/2 cup spinach = 4g protein; 1/2 cup mung beans = 1.5g protein. That's not exactly packed with protein.
If by "endume" you mean edamame (soybeans), 1/2 cup = 8.5g protein so it's a much better source of protein than the others listed. A 4 oz serving of tempeh gives you 20g protein - the best one of the lot.
Women in particular should at least be aware that there may be health problems associated with eating a lot of soy products. The research on the dangers vs benefits are at this point a mixed bag.

Well if you don't currently eat beans and you start, make sure you drink plenty of water since you're going to probably be taking in a lot more fiber than your body is used to. But overall, eat those beans!
Make sure to buy them dry and cook them instead of canned. The health difference between canned beans and cooked beans is night and day.0 -

What health differences, specifically, are you referring to?0 -
Per gram
- 0 sodium unless you add it
- close to 40% more protien
- close to 30% more fiber
- Small benefits in calcium and iron.

The woo is strong with this entire thread.
Honestly, what are the health problems associated with eating a lot of soy that we couldn't immediately find out by comparing women in East Asia with women elsewhere? If you do have solid info on this, give us a source, not a vague prophecy of doom.
And what is the difference between canned beans and dried? I don't know about where you are, but here, they don't even add salt to canned beans. They're dried beans that have been cooked and put in a can. The only reason to cook your own is because it's cheaper.
That whole "you have to cook your own beans from dried because canned ones are BAAAD" belongs with "you have to make your own stock" and "you have to knit your own muesli" in the category of "miscellaneous food snobbery" and has nothing to do with health.1 -

Just pick up a can of beans and a bag of beans and look at the back. That simple.
Don't really care to argue further about beans.0 -

People asking about the factual basis of your claims isn't an argument.0 -

LOL so much wrong in this statement ...
please explain to me how the carb in sweet potatoes will not tun into fat, but he carb in white bread automatically goes to fat storage...

Well, technically if you go by the label you'll see a difference, but that's because the liquid is part of the serving. 100g of canned beans includes part of the liquid, so fewer beans per serving, less protein, less fiber, and likely less calories.3
