I'm in! Missed out on June as we went travelling, so I only got 2 outdoor and 2 indoor rides in in the last days of the month. I've never set a mileage target before , so I'll do it this time..Errrr...let's try for 180miles. I may treat my bike to a saddlebag so I can start using it to go out for groceries. Can anyone recommend a good style saddlebag / pannier for a women's mountainbike please?
I'll also post more pictures,it seems to motivate me knowing that I get to show some curios of our Berkshire locale.

    Happy riding everyone B)

Just 51 slow miles down to downtown St. Pete and back along the Pinellas trail for some very good coffee this afternoon.

    7/1 - 28 miles
    7/3 - 51 miles

    Total: 79 miles
    Goal: 621 miles
    Remaining: 542 miles

@Elise4270 - Definitely an August challenge waiting for you once you recover (as this has been going on for at least a few years, as I've been on it for almost 2 years - @CricketKate is the usual moderator). Not an adamo/ISM user, but one of the folks on my tri team's Wednesday ride is friends with the founder and is usually evalgelizing their use. Not super-happy with my tri-bike stock saddle, so I may give one a shot.

Since I'm still trying to ease back in, I will set my month goal at 100 miles. Happy Trails!

    I am with you

    Happy Canada Day from a Canadian-Australian. :)

Saturday 2 July -- 1186 metres (3891.076) of climbing, in 81.8 km of cycling, completed within 5.5 hours (elapsed time) and 4:35 moving time for an average speed of 17.8 km/h (moving time).

The ride included a couple Category 4 climbs with various climbs in the 13-16% grade range.

Starting temperature 12°C with a high of 14.7°C halfway through the ride. We had a headwind on the way out and tailwind on the way back, for the most part, with some odd, very chilly gusts now and then. It was mostly cloudy and looked like it was going to rain several times, but fortunately, that didn't happen. On the way back we were sure we were going to get caught in a rain squall, but it passed behind us and we just got a small blast of it.

We started the ride about 12:30 pm so, since the sun sets at about 4:45, it was pitch black by the time we finished. A little night riding practice. For some reason climbing is so much more difficult in the dark.

And we stopped for lunch at the halfway point. I had been looking forward to that, but unfortunately they were out of many choices (busy day what with the federal election), and what we ate (paninis with lots of spinach) didn't sit well at all. I was about 1 km out of the town on the way back when I started feeling very unsettled. And then about 8 or 9 km later we started a long, long climb (one of the cat 4 climbs) and by the time I got to the top, I was not feeling at all well. Fighting to keep things down. However, I took an electrolyte tablet and a Zantac, and that eased things a bit.

The route mainly followed the coast so we had lots of beautiful views of water and green hills.

There were lots of birds around ... a large flock of black cockatoos filled a tree next to where we parked at the start of the ride and we had to dodge and weave between the pine cones they were dropping from the tree ... we were being bombed! And during the ride, I spotted herons, oyster catchers, small gulls, large Pacific gulls, a cormorant airing its wings ... and most spectacular was a massive wedge-tail eagle which took flight from a tree next to the road, and flew across, right in front of Rowan. I don't think I've ever seen them that close, but Rowan has because they come onto the property where he works. In fact, just yesterday, he rescued a young one which had flown through the net over the orchard, and then had become stuck inside.

Overall, it was a good, strenuous, training ride on a beautiful but quite hilly route. :)

Oh, and I wore my new winter cycling boots for the first time. They're very comfortable but I will have to do something about drafts coming in around my ankles. And ... I need to install a cleat!! I forgot all about that and so had to ride with my platform pedals the whole way!!

Came in .10 mile short of my goal for today. By the time I realized, I couldn't stand the thought of climbing back onto that saddle. 14.9 today.

I haven't used edmonundo. But I did notice a difference between Garmin and Strava. I go by the lowest!

    Happy riding!

I use Garmin and Strava and go by the highest!
They are both low for me. Medium intensity rides they are similar but Garmin gives a much lower count on gentle rides.

Lucky that you can do that. I just don't have the muscle mass for a killer burn. Nor have I developed the endurance. I'd have some cheesecake though if I thought I did!

Between the two, I find Strava to calculate a higher burn.

I find the calorie counts on Strava to be ridiculously low sometimes. My latest ride is 24.4 miles in 1:45ish moving time. Strava counts that as 546 kcal, Garmin as 1228!

Harvard Medical School gives an estimate for cycling at around my speed for around my weight of 372 kcal per half hour, which equates to ~1300 for my ride, so the Garmin number is not a million miles away, and I'm happy to take that one. The Strava one is wildly off.

Allegedly, the Strava numbers are much better if you ride with a heart rate monitor, but I don't have one at the moment, so can't confirm.

    Mon 04 - 28.88 miles
Tue 05 - 35.33 miles. Morning ride started out intended to be a couple of miles longer than usual - a couple of navigational issues and it ended up +10 miles instead. Good ride though. Evening ride was short and direct!

    Target for July: 500 miles

I don't know what to go for as far as a goal. I'm fighting a sinus infection, and the medicine the doctor gave me has a restriction of minimal exposure to the sun, and we are going on vacation at the end of the month. So I think my saddle time is going to be very limited this month. I may just ride and not have a set goal for this month.

    July total:
    Goal for month: 300
    Year to date: 1,853.48

    Jan - 175.9
    Feb - 343.3
    Mar - 353.8
    Apr - 363.4
    May - 319.1
    June - 316.2
