We have friends visiting from the States so I'm planning on going all out with the red white and blue treats!5

Everyone's free to come to Canada for red, white and blue breakfast parfaits, stars and stripes cookies.
Is it ok if I serve some festive red white and blue treats on the 3rd as well? USA Day all the way!7 -
I wanna make a roast0

We might bbq or we might go to our town's celebration. I just know there's going to be tonsssss of people but this is the first year that my hubs and I are BOTH off work, I just never wanted to go alone with our son so I never went before. It says we're not supposed to bring alcohol in to the park......but I was never one for following rules.2

I got a guest0

I'll get up in the morning. It's a day off from work. I'll have the house to myself because everyone else sleeps late. No, later. Later. I might mow grass. I might not.1

Meeting up with friends, drinking beer and tequila, eating smoked pork, and blowing *kitten* up.1

*Independence day.
We don't call Christmas December the 25th.
Anyway. I'm off but It's going to be raining all day.1 -
Supposed to rain here all weekend, too. We are setting up at a local craft/swap market with the in-laws. I have let it be known that I will fulfill all obligations for rest of summer, but need to scale WAY back next year. Hopefully the weather doesnt keep everyone away! Fingers crossed for some sales!0

I just don't get it.
Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day. Arbor Day, Earth Day ..... down the list we go.
The one that should matter to most Americans .... July the Fourth, instead of Independence Day.1 -

I just think 4th of July sounds more fun3 -
Fair enough. I'm not saying anything maliciously or in a ill tempered format. We're not all the same and I get that. I apologize if I came across that way.1

Sleep late, gym, then hanging by the pool all weekend long.1
-
Burgers, alcohol, videogames......oh and like fireworks and stuff to!0
-
I'm planning on stuffing as much BBQ meat in my mouth as possible. Yup that's about it.1
-
Probably nothing. Family night is Saturday and we're having a fire to do smores. And fireworks are banned in my city.0
-
beach!0

My husband and I get to be with family: my daughter and her family, my son and his family, my stepson (without his wife ) but with their girls, and some other family members who will likely be there. This is a yearly Independence Day thang, and I love it. When the children can't wait any longer for dark, they and their parents do fireworks while we "old folks" watch until we're nodding off.1

it;s like everyone who gets pissed off at people for saying Happy Holiday's instead of Merry Christmas. Not everyone is going to say the same thing. It all means the same in the end.

I do not consider Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to mean the same thing because I am a Christian. But I get what you mean that we can say Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas and it comes off with the same meaning.
And I agree that Happy 4th of July and Happy Independence Day can mean the same thing to Americans. Growing up my elders and community officials always called it 4th of July, then when they gave their speeches and shared their stories with us, the words Independence Day were used often.2 -

It's 4th of July. And I've lived all over the us so it's not a local thing.
