How does one go about calculating this? The UK deals in salt yet MFP deals in sodium and I would like to track my sodium intake please

Consult your periodic table. Sodium has a molecular weight of 23, Chlorine a molecular weight of 35, so the fraction of salt that is sodium (by weight) is 23 / (23 + 35) or roughly 40%.
So 1 gram of salt is about 400 mg sodium (and 600 mg chloride).0 -
