Turmeric is a legit anti-inflammatory that is better absorbed with the addition of black pepper. Oz, et al did not make this up, they are just promoting it for their advantage. Golden milk is just one way to consume turmeric to take advantage of it's natural benefit. I happen to like golden milk. There are many different recipes, you can find one to suit yourself. I make mine with almond milk.1

That sounds interesting... So how was it0

Ive had it before, I like it, I usually only make it to help during my menstrual cycle, but I will on occasion make it during the winter just to have it. It tastes good to me. (I use regular milk though so I've never had it using coconut and/or almond milk).0

I like it, it always helps me when I have flu0

It helped me sleep during a bout of insomnia. Definitely going to keep drinking it.0

It's, like everything, an extrapolation
Curcumin, an element of turmeric has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties over extended trials with participants taking 1250-8000mg curcumin
Each tablespoon turmeric contains 136mg curcumin
If you like the taste that's a great reason
But efficacy / toxicity is always dosage relevant2 -

Yes, the study was on the effects of curcumin and turmeric has relatively low amounts of curcumin in it. But as mean_jeannie pointed out Black pepper does help in the absorption of curcumin in the body. Now, of course, I'm no expert but I think a prolong use of turmeric is highly beneficial and I haven't read otherwise anywhere.
I've tried Spiced Golden Milk and it is good especially in mending physical injuries and relieving muscular pain.0
