TIRED OF BEING A FATASS

I weighed 285 last week and now I weigh 276. 8 on my new ketosis diet. I'm looking to follow people who are struggling with me and are on a goal of losing 80+ lbs. I've always had trouble with my weight and even tried weight loss pills as a teenager. It worked for a bit but then I gained all the weight back tenfold. It was a vicous cycle of depression and binge eating. I'm at a stage in my life where I want to focus on myself and I'm looking to follow others who are like minded.

Cardiovascular 6x a week
1800 kcals a day
5% carbs, 25% protein 70% fat

Congratulations on taking control and beginning your journey. For what it's worth, I believe that you have done yourself a great service by choosing to follow a ketogenic way of eating. I have been eating keto macros since April 5, 2016 and have gained improved health and lost more than 60 pounds. I still have a long way to go and plan to eat this way for the long haul. I highly recommend that you research and learn as much as you can about implementing a well-formulated ketogenic diet. I have found ketogains.com (be sure to read the FAQ) to be an invaluable, evidence-based resource for both nutrition and exercise. I recommend that you join the Ketogains Facebook group as well as the Optimal Ketogenic Living Facebook group for ongoing education and support. In order to get the most out of your participation in either of these groups, I recommend that you read and take full advantage of the info contained in their pinned posts. In my opinion, both groups are lead by knowledgeable teams of admins who practice what they preach. I also appreciate that they do not promote the misinformation and junk science that is being irresponsibly disseminated by the ultra-high-fat-keto fad diet cultists. I sincerely believe that keto can be a sustainable, therapeutic, and rewarding lifestyle when implemented properly. I wish you continued success and lifelong health.

Good luck. I've never had any success on a ketogenic diet, it's just way too restrictive. Slow and steady via good ol' calorie counting with plenty of fiber and protein is the only thing that works for me. I think I started (this time) at 284, so I'm looking to come down about 100 lbs.

    This 100 ℅

I also believed at first that I had to go low carb or Keto to lose weight. Finally i realized that it wasn't the diet for me. It wasn't sustainable for me for the long term and way too restrictive. I realized that for me there was no greater benefit to doing a Keto diet rather then just a calorie restrictied well balanced wide variety diet. since there is no greater health benefits then for me then it wasn't worth the torture( I have no medical issues) I realized that anyone can stay on a diet plan for a few months or even a couple years but eventually they would have to find a more sustainable approach if they couldn't see themselves sticking with the restrictive diet forever. At that point, I decided that a well balanced wide variety diet was best for me.
Op- if you feel like the Keto diet is something you can stick to forever then go for it! Doing something is definitely better then doing nothing! Just remember that for the average healthy person, there's no greater health benefits so it's not like it's mandatory for one to be on a Keto diet ( sans medical issues) Best of luck to you!

I feel like this is something I can really stick to especially because at this point I've already lost all my carb cravings. Although I do believe in cheating once I a while. The key thing is that I'm getting results and I believe this is absolutley working for me. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Like I said, if it works for you, that's what's important! The ultimate goal of *any* weight-loss strategy is calorie deficits. A lot of people misunderstand keto and think you can eat 5400 cals of bacon, steak, eggs, and pork rinds. It is absolutely possible to gain weight on low carb diets.

I'm not saying you fall into this realm of thinking, mind you - just stating what I've seen a lot of.
