I am just starting a lchf diet, today! Looking for encouragement from those who have achieved success! How much did you lose? How long did it take? What were the ups and downs of eating this way? I am 5'3" 248 lbs. I am down 40 lbs on my own just by portion control.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I do carb cycling, follow Chris Powell books, that way I don't feel deprived. I have lost about 20# and over 8 inches from chest to thighs..I am getting toned up, need to tighten up eating get the next 10 or so off. Keep up the good work.1

Pretty much all of my weight loss (113.1 lbs. total) was in low carb of some form. I didn't start a true keto run until about three months ago, but in that time I went from 169.8 to 151.9, and I've been running on close to maintenance cals for almost three weeks now, trying to hold the low 150s.
First thing, apply to join this group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group
Second thing, make sure you have sufficient electrolyte intake. It's covered pretty well in that group's stickies, so make sure and read those once you get in.2 -
I started LCHF 26 days ago, still counting cals though. There's been quite a learning curve but I've seen some good results, not just in pounds and inches but in the way I feel. My arthritis is so much better, my mind is clearer, I am able to take my dogs on actual walks instead of just standing in the yard with them thinking about how much my feet hurt while they run around. I have energy to pursue my other interests, which I haven't had in a good long time. My whole way of looking at food and exercise has changed. I know that sounds like a lot for 26 days, but I was in pretty bad shape when I started this, and now I kind of never want to stop.
I think the best suggestion I can give you aside from agreeing with Gallowmere above is to keep tasty attractive grab-n-go LCHF foods around. My worst temptations happen when I'm tired and don't feel like fixing anything (I live with other people, so I don't control all the food). If I've got yummy LCHF stuff ready to go, the carby sugary stuff doesn't look quite so delicious.
Good luck to you!1 -

This is good advice. I even go so far as prepping an entire week worth of meals on the weekend, splitting them into even servings, and storing them in the fridge in separate containers.2
