@theslightedgeforever Good job on the walk. The routine will come. Do you feel you are still recuperating from surgery? @trooworld Now you know you can’t handle the artificial sweetener in the protein bar. I’ve mentioned before that I like Barebells. They have mannitol which doesn’t bother me but they might bother you. Hi, all. Today was a warm day and I went for a walk this morning. I was going to sit outside but it was too hot. That particular area was in the full sun. DS is making pork stew. We also are having rice and Italian bread. I have calories saved up.

@fabgeekmom No, I think I'm finally recuperated. I just seem to be not making fitness a priority like I want it to be.

@trooworld Could you keep an extra pair of shoes in your desk or car so you are always ready to walk? I was doing really well on my routines until I had my surgery.

    @gemwolf110 Isn't trooworld talented?

So another 45 min walk is in the books.

@theslightedgeforever In that case, what can you do to start a routine? You know you will feel better when you do.

@fabgeekmom Yes, or at least that amount. I've had half of that protein bar before and it's been fine. Maybe I'll give Barebells a try. I'm glad your weather was nice and you got a walk in. Wow, too hot, that's a change, huh?

@theslightedgeforever That's a good idea. I think I have a spare I can take to work. Ah, I see. Well, give yourself some grace...you will get back to it. Good job with the walk! And thank you for what you said to gemwolf110!

Hi all. I am going to take a pair of extra shoes to work and leave them at my desk. Good idea. I didn't end up walking yesterday: lots of reasons. I could have but I didn't take the time. Will try again today. It's rainy weather here. Last night, it took 1 hr 45 mins to get home. It would have taken longer if I had to do the usual and pick up my husband from his job on the way home but he went home earlier (thankfully).

@trooworld That’s a good idea to leave some shoes at work. Wow, that traffic sounds unreal! Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I was able to sit outside for a while and it felt good. Dinner was simple: broiled chicken breast that had been marinated in low fat buttermilk and Ranch seasoning, microwaved green beans and air fried sweet potatoes.

  • trooworld
    trooworld Posts: 7,327 Member

@fabgeekmom Yes! It was @slightedgeforever's idea. The traffic is horrible. I always say if I didn't love my job so much, I would get one closer to home lol. Good job with the swim! I'm glad you were able to sit outside for a while. Do you have a front porch or do you sit in the yard? Our condo doesn't really have a porch but we sit on the walkway. Dinner sounds good.

Hi all. It rained part of the day yesterday but it cleared up by the time I was off work and traffic wasn't too bad, only an hour. Today will be a different story as it is supposed to rain all day. I haven't been hungry or thirsty lately, which is a real problem. I watched a bariatric webinar yesterday that said that if you are dehydrated, try not eating for the day and it will sort of reset your body. I only ate yogurt with berries and dinner yesterday. Today, I will only eat when I am hungry but I will focus on water intake. Dehydration is the #1 reason people end up back in the hospital after surgery. I made Couscous Risotto with Chicken and Spinach, an America's Test Kitchen recipe, for dinner last night. It was delicious!

Oh My I logged on only to find this…I dozed most of the day yesterday. LOL. I never finished my comments. Baby got up and that was that..so this was written actually yesterday morning.

Morning all, yesterday didn't go as planned, however I did get my nails and pedicure done. Needed one really bad. I am so tired I was sitting in my chair at my desk and fell asleep sitting up. My second alarm went off and coffee went everywhere…(it was in my lap). UGH. Well my DH has been without a cigarette for 6 days now. That in itself is a miracle. I think the only reason he actually quit this time is because he was diagnosed with emphysema this past year. Just glad he did this.

@trooworld Good job on working on hydration. I made that ATK recipe and it’s good, and actually healthier than most recipes on that site. @cbabie You must have needed that nap. Too bad about the coffee. That’s awesome that your DH has been without cigarettes. Hi, all. It’s cold and dreary so I rode the bike. DH and I packed for a trip. My cousin’s grandson is having his bar mitzvah. I will try to track my meals but it will be a struggle as there will be foods available that I don’t eat often and like. We’re going out to dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant tonight. It will be nice not having to prepare meals for the next few days.

@cbabie You must have needed the sleep. What a way to start the day, with coffee all over. Good job, DH! I'm glad he is doing that, too.

@fabgeekmom Thank you! Yeah I agree with you about that recipe. Sorry about the weather. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi all. I have had a headache for two days. I think it's been the weather, it's been raining for two days. I think the weather is supposed to clear up today. I didn't not eat yesterday, I ate some food, just not much. I am still working on hydration, which may be part of why I have a headache. Today is usually my work-from-home day, but I have to go into the library today as we are short-staffed due to some vacations. It's going to be a long day!

@trooworld Sorry about the headache. I hope work wasn’t too bad today. Hi, all. Everything is good. Travel was easy. I’ve eaten some good food. I had pizza tonight which was a treat. It was a nice crispy cheese pizza with mushrooms, pesto and arugula. My cousin's daughter recommended the restaurant.

@fabgeekmom Thank you. I'm glad travel was easy and you've eaten some good food. I love pizza!

Hi all. Yesterday, the roads were dangerous as it was raining both going to work and coming home but I survived. Work was okay; it was really busy, but that made the day go by pretty fast. I'm up earlier than usual because we have to drive up to LA to pick up my MIL. We always dread these trips because LA traffic is the absolute worst: without traffic, it's about 2-2 1/2 hours, but with traffic, it can take up to 5-6 hours to get home. I've already had my fill of traffic for the week as it is lol. We are leaving at around 5 am, hoping to beat some of the traffic.

Hi all, well I've not been tracking calories for 2 weeks, just can't seem to get into it. But my eating habits have been ok. My weight has been steady.

I've seen the physio twice, and he has been doing some dry needling (like acupuncture) to relieve the muscles, and it seems to have helped the pain. He has also given me some exercises so I'm working on that.

@trooworld yeah the artwork is cool! I hope you have a safe drive.

@fabgeekmom sounds like you are travelling as well, hope it goes well!

@cbabie that is great your husband quit smoking. I hope he can continue. I quit years ago- saw a family member get lung cancer and that did it for me.

@theslightedgeforever- I feel like you with the fitness but with the calories. Haven't been making it a priority. For now I am giving myself a break.

Getting my haircut today and then puttering around here.

All the winter birds are gone- disappeared last week. Now the summer birds are here. Red necked grebe is my favourite. There are pairs that come here in the little bays and marshes to lay eggs.

@trooworld I know about traffic in LA as my son and I have been there. He does the driving wherever we go! I hope traffic wasn’t too bad. @its_cleo I’m glad the physio had helped. It always feels good to have a new haircut. I’m getting mine cut this Thursday. That’s interesting about the birds. Hi, all. Today was a good day and the day of the Bar Mitzvah. My cousin did a good job and we were all proud of him. I ate too much today. I tracked breakfast and lunch but not the meal at the party tonight. I’ll get back to normal eating habits when I get home.

@its_cleo That's good your weight has been steady and you've been eating okay. Thank you, I appreciate it! I hope you like your haircut. Cool that you get to see the birds.

@fabgeekmom Thank you! I'm glad the Bar Mitzvah went well. I'm sure you'll get back to normal once you are home.

Hi all. We got up to LA in 2 hours 20 mins: because we left so early, there was no traffic. HOWEVER, once we got there, my MIL was not ready to leave and took 3 HOURS to get ready despite knowing when we would arrive! We drove to Culver City (where all the movie studios are) and went to a really nice coffee shop that was also a bookstore. We each got a book and a coffee and sat and read for a bit. By the time my MIL was ready, it was noon and we didn't get home until 3:30 pm. It was exhausting driving in traffic. Today, I have a lot to do: I have to get new tires at Sam's Club, go grocery shopping, and do some other errands.

@trooworld That’s too bad you had to wait but at least you went to a nice coffee shop and read. There’s something peaceful about coffee shops. Going to Sam’s is exhausting. Hopefully you got what you needed. Hi, all. Today was a good one. We went to Starbucks to get coffee and then went to a brunch at a family member’s house. They had a traditional Jewish dairy meal which was nice: bagels with cream cheese and lox and sweet kugel ( noodle pudding) plus other stuff. Afterwards we went to the Breakers, a mansion in Newport, Rhode Island that the Vanderbilts previously owned. That was fun as we all love history. On the way back we stopped at a bakery. Tonight we’re eating at my cousins’s daughters’s house.

@fabgeekmom Yes, I'm glad we decided to go there. Sam's is exhausting. Thank you. I'm glad you had a good day yesterday. The traditional meal sounds delicious. I've never had Kugel but I have always wanted to try it. Sounds like a fun day.

Hi all. This whole weekend went by very quickly. Yesterday's trip to Sam's Club was a success: it took about an hour for them to install the tires so while we waited, we walked around the shopping center parking lot and then into Ross and Kohl's. Then we went shopping in Sam's Club. Later, we went for coffee and read. I ordered Instacart delivery from Walmart as I knew I didn't want to take the time to go to Walmart, too. I made meatloaf for dinner with roasted asparagus.

Morning, well I just lost my whole post. UGH. I just got on here to say, somehow I got a cold..I am not sure how I lived through my daughter having the flu and I didn't get it, but now I have a stinking cold. I have been miserable for the last 2 days…I thought it was allergies as it's been really windy here. but nope a good old fashioned cold.

@trooworld sorry about the drive to LA, but as always, sounds like you did a pivot and enjoyed your wait, :)

@fabgeekmom I am glad you enjoyed the Bar Mitzvah and the food you don't normally eat.

@its_cleo yea for tracking for 2 weeks, not sure if I could do acupuncture. I am such a baby. LOL

@fabgeekmom glad everything went well. It’s hard to eat perfectly on a trip. One reason I always feel glad to come home after a vacation is regular food again.

@trooworld yikes that would drive me crazy having to wait. My step-mother was like that. We would always be in the car waiting and she was always the last one out of the house. Usually we would get in the car, wait, then give up and get out lol……..I think studies have shown traffic is worse in Toronto but I'm not sure. It's pretty bad here, but I don't drive much.

@cbabie I like the acupuncture bc I find the needles easier than a massage. I find massages too painful. I don’t know where people get the idea it’s relaxing lol.

Still not tracking calories, but I’ve really cut down on takeout, and I got an ice cream brand that is less calories. Also less satisfying lol. But probably better for me.

I just made a soup for lunch tomorrow based on a Hello Fresh recipe. Hopefully it works out. They tell you all the ingredients but the spices, so I have to guess. It’s a turkey soup with cauliflower and kale. I was thinking of adding chickpeas to it. It’s one of the rare soups I like that isn’t pureed.

@trooworld I’m glad your shopping went well. Meatloaf and asparagus sounds good. @cbabie Too bad about the cold. I hope you feel better soon. @its_cleo The soup sounds good. Yay to better choices and lower calorie ice cream! Hi, all. I’m home and it feels so good! We had fun and it was nice seeing family. I’m looking forward to eating normal food tomorrow and sleeping in my bed.

@its_cleo Your soup sounds good. I think massages are painful too. Except I like my head massage when I go to the hair dresser.

@cbabie Hope you are feeling better.

@trooworld I bet you got in alot of steps walking around Sams. I did mall walking today

@fabgeekmom I love coffee shops too. I love bagels and cream cheese. Haven't tried lox. My daughter went to the Breakers this past year. I loved her pics. She and I like looking at stuff like that. But she went with friends this time.

Hubby and I took a walk yesterday. Mall walking today. I need to buckle down and get in the gym for some weights. I'm procrastinating. I lost 0.3 lbs this week.

I just finished a good book. Fat Loss Habits from Ben Carpenter

@cbabie That stinks that you lost your post and you got a cold. I hope you feel better soon. Thank you. I did enjoy the wait! Take me to a bookstore and I won't complain lol.

@its_cleo It wasn't too bad to wait on my MIL since we went to the bookstore, but the drive home drove me crazy. Oh gosh, worse traffic in Toronto, I would not want to deal with that! I started tracking again. I stopped for about a month. I hope the soup turned out well.

@fabgeekmom It was good, thanks. I'm glad you had a good time on your trip.

@theslightedgeforever I did! I got 7,313 steps that day, which is better than a lot of days. I grumbled about walking around the whole shopping center but I'm glad we did it. Good job with the mall walking and walking with the husband. Congrats on the loss! Thanks for the book recommendation.

Hi all. I haven't really been hungry or able to drink water for the past three weeks and when I do eat, I have a pain in my upper abdomen. I called the dietician yesterday and told her about it although I told her it wasn't a pain but more felt like a rock in my stomach. I answered a lot of questions and she thought that I was just constipated so she told me to drink Smooth Move tea. I am going to call her back today and tell her it's a pain in my upper abdomen because I paid more attention last night when I tried to eat and that's what it was. My water intake sucks right now, every time I eat, I can't drink for like an hour or more after because I am so full. This doesn't feel normal.

Morning, well did it again…I just lost my post. It's because of this new @thing….I accidentally click on the link when trying to copy. so annoying..Sorry, still not up to par..but this too shall pass and I will be dancing in this wind we have today. LOL

@its_cleo I really only like cream of tomato soup..not even sure if that's healthy..(canned). LOL I hope you enjoy you new flavor.

@trooworld glad you are listening to your body and you know your body so continue to listen. I hope you get to the bottom of it and you feel great again.

@fabgeekmom Glad you are home in your own bed..funny how that just feels right. You would think a mattress is a mattress. LOL. Glad you enjoyed your family.

@theslightedgeforever Thank you, I just have to get my immune system built up again..hey but I didn't catch the flu from baby girl .LOL. Great job on the loss and walk.

@theslightedgeforever Good job on the walk and weight loss. Small amounts add up. @trooworld I hope you figure out what is causing your distress. @cbabie Sorry you are still not feeling good. It’s windy here, too. Hi, all. I’m back to my routine. I went grocery shopping and rode my bike. I’m tracking accurately. I gained 1 1/2 pounds from my getaway which isn’t bad. I enjoyed everything I ate! Dinner is tacos. I bought romaine so I can eat mine on a salad and have some tortilla chips.

@fabgeekmom Thank you. Yay for being back on your routine! No, that isn't a bad amount to gain considering you were out of town.

@theslightedgeforever Mental battery or computer/phone battery? LOL Either way, I hope you get your juice back. :)

Hi all. I talked to the dietician and she said she thinks I need to talk to the surgeon so I have an appointment for tomorrow to go see him. Hopefully, we can figure out what is going on. I'm concerned there may be a bowel obstruction going on, which is what Lisa Marie Presley died of. I made some chili last night but didn't eat it, instead, I had some of what my husband made: chicken and sweet potato curry. It was really good.

Morning all, still not up and at um…when I get it I get it, nothing half way with me. LOL. I am so glad that DH has been helping with the kids and when I doze off he lets me sleep. It's the only way to fight this thing. Not really doing much except trying to get better…

@trooworld no I used to and then didn't have issues so I quit doing that. I would be okay if I could just get all those "@" things to turn blue the first typing around. LOL Let us know what your surgeon says. I will be keeping you in prayer. LOL I loved your comment to the slightedge..

@fabgeekmom I am sure you will have that little gain removed soon. You are soooo good at keeping on target. I don't like the wind..a breeze okay..but wind. LOL. I guess unless we are Marilyn Monroe. :)

@theslightedgeforever I’m glad you checked in. @trooworld You’ll probably figure things out when you see your surgeon. It’s good to be proactive. @cbabie That’s that DH is giving you time to rest. I hope you feel better soon. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. It was warmer today and I sat on the front porch after lunch. Dinner was leftovers from the freezer. I was not too crazy about it but I didn’t have to cook.

@cbabie That’s good that your DH is helping and letting you catch up on rest. Yes, rest is the only way to get better. Ah I see. Yeah I wasn’t bothering with making the @ turn blue, I was just bolding the names and hoping people saw their names. But now, I am trying it in Google Docs and see if it turns them blue. Thank you, I will let you guys know. LOL either battery needs recharged.

@fabgeekmom I hope so. Good job with the swim. Nice to sit out on the porch. It’s good to take a break from cooking once in a while.

Hi all. My lower/mid back has also been really bothering me for the past two weeks. I doubt it is connected to the stomach issues. I asked the health & safety person at my job if we had any cushions for the chair and she said no but she’d come to my office and see what was going on. Well, now, I have to go to a workman’s comp doctor and also talk to our physical therapist and possibly go to physical therapy. I didn’t want it to be such a big deal, I just wanted to try a cushion. I should have just bought the cushion and tried it lol.

@trooworld I think it’s a good thing that your work environment responded to you that way. You are fortunate to have a job/career that you have such good options. Hi, all. It’s warm here on the first day of spring. I went for a walk. I went grocery shopping and got salmon and corn on the cob for dinner. I have salad ingredients. My grocery store had a good deal on salmon. I’m going to cook the whole piece so we can have leftovers for lunch.

Morning all, I am happy to post that I am feeling better, on the other side of this cold. YEA!!!! Today is my oldest's birthday. I like that her birthday falls on or close to first day of spring…makes me smile. Now that I am beginning to feel more like me..going to get back to those walks. Not sure what we are having for dinner…not sure of the birthday plans yet.

@trooworld I had to laugh about the workman's comp. That would have been my mindset, just give me a darn pillow already..LOL. but then @fabgeekmom brings a good perspective. :).

@fabgeekmom I don't like Salmon, but my daughter has been asking every time she sees me to make it. So I will have to give in here soon. They also like the Salmon patties my mom used to make. I have a really hard time making those..I just want to use a barf bag when I cook..LOL. I am just not normal, they tell me. Yea for going for a walk!!! nice to enjoy good weather when we have it.
