Hello! I'm not new, but I am looking for friends who are also teachers. I am going into my second year of teaching high school English at a rural school in the South. I would love to have some new MFP friends who know what it's like to manage being a teacher and being healthy at the same time! Feel free to add me and comment below! Hope y'all are having a great summer.

I am also new and a teacher! I taught middle school the last 3 years in a rural town as well. I moved back to the big city this summer and I am attempting to find a new job! Good luck on your journey!0

I'm an adjunct college professor and IT trainer (at the college I work for). I tell my children that "I teach the teachers" (One of our main focus at our college is on teacher education). I've been teaching for about 20 years now though I have never formally taught at a public K-12 school. Most of my "teaching" is adult training in IT (Information Technology) though I do teach Computer Science at the college I work for.0

Integration Aide here. ( Education support ).
one thing I know, is teachers love to have special morning teas. I constantly find myself saying " those who indulge bulge".
It helps most of the time but we are emotional eaters, mostly, I think.
Add me if you like and good luck.0 -

Fellow teacher here! Currently teaching college Education and Reading - taught Reading, First Grade and Spec. Ed. in :flowerforyou: c schools for 22 years! Loved every experience. Juggling this act and taking care of yourself can be tricky...but can be done!0

Year 14 of teaching middle school English, first in the north, now in the South. I am new to this sight, but not new to weight loss/management. Feel free to add!:)0

You can add me! I teach at a full time gifted program (mostly 7th & 8th graders). I started out teaching high school English (and am always tempted to go back because I loved it so much!).
I think teaching goes both ways with weight loss. I'm always on my feet and too busy to eat much when i do eat, so I'm forced to make it count. Unfortunately the mailroom and teacher workroom always seem to have cookies and cake just laying around... I'm not even much of a "sweet" person, but I do seem tempted to eat crap I normally wouldn't want when I'm at work. What's that about?0 -
My name is Jason and I teach English as a second language at two universities in northern Germany.
Feel free to add me as a friend because I am here at MFP almost every day and I like encouraging people and so I try to comment on most of the diary posts.
If I can help or support you in any way, please just let me know.0 -
k-8 technology integrator in nyc here. i think it takes a little bit of planning to ensure you stay on track during the school year. do you eat lunch with your students or do you have a break? is it a long enough break that you can escape to pick something up for yourself or do you need to pre-plan the evening before and bring lunch with you?
i'm lucky because my school's kitchen is comped for faculty and provides a salad bar. if you can make time for exercise during the week, even if it's only 20 minutes a day it will help with stress and weight loss goals. i use the summer to be much more regimented about activity and meals. feel free to add me.0 -
Hi all!
I teach high school science in a small coastal town. I'm finding it much easier to work at this weight loss effort in the summer because I have time to cook and go to the gym. During the school year my lunch is at 10:30 and in those 20 minutes I'm scarfing down a meal that I don't want because it's so early! Then I'm starving in the time between the students leaving and dinner!0 -
I'm a teacher too! I'm a British teacher teaching abroad at the moment.
It can be difficult to stay healthy at work...break time snacks and tea, lunch out and children's birthday parties!
Add me if you need any motivation, and I would love the support :flowerforyou:0 -
I'm a teacher going into my 6th year teaching middle school special ed (mild/moderate), although I'm looking for a new job due to distance so my classes may change. I'll add you!0

Another teacher here! I'm an English language teacher in the Netherlands, at a school comparable to middle school in the US. I also find it more difficult to eat well and exercise during the work week. I hope to develop some good habits this summer and hope I can stick to those when school starts again :-)0

Kind of a teacher... I'm a Behavior Therapist working with children aged 2-12 with Autism. I consider myself a "teacher" because I do in fact teach the kiddos- basic math, reading, and independent life skills! It's hard work but I wouldn't trade it for anything0

Hi Everyone! I'm a HS English teacher (starting my 20th year!). We teachers have some special requirements for weight loss--namely TIME! Even our weekends are taken away with grading! Feel free to add me!0

Greetings, everyone! I'm a HS theatre teacher just starting her 4th year. Between prepping/grading for classes and theatre rehearsals, I barely have anytime for myself (luckily, I don't have any family!) so I'm not sure how well this whole trying to get in shape thing will work when the school year hits! I could totally use some people for motivation and support as well!0

Hey guys! I'm a drama teacher.0

Hello fellow teachers! I'm an Australian high school English teacher. I find it hard to stay healthy when there's yummy morning teas, and the school canteen isn't particularly healthy either, so I have to be really organised on the weekend if I'm to eat well during the week. At least it's wintertime here, so I've been making lots of chicken and veggie soups!0

I am a Geometry teacher starting my 17th year in a few weeks. I have really enjoyed my summer but I am ready to get back into a routine. I gain 5 pounds every summer and usually lose it all by October. The bad news is I gained 5 pounds during the spring semester and 5 5 this summer so I am carrying around 10 pounds that I need to lose.
I'd love to have more teacher friends.0 -
I'm an a career changer and almost new elementary teacher starting my internship next week..Also new (again) to MFP. Would love some support from fellow teachers.0

This was a great idea for a forum topic, I think anyone in the teaching/education/related fields could use some friends and support from others who work in the field.
I've had a pretty eclectic background. I've worked with adolescents with autism for about seven years and have also taught English in the inner city and work in secondary Special Education as a sub. While I would love a full time job in Special Education, specifically working with students with autism- I do love the work I do on a day to day basis. Working in an AS classroom one day and MDS the next really gives me perspective, inspiration, and the opportunity to positively impact these student's lives, if even for a day.
Add me if you'd like, I completely understand where you are coming from! :happy:0 -
High school science teacher here. Starting my 15th year of teaching AND mother of two littles ages 2.5 and 16 months. I would love friends who are used to juggling!0
-
Add me!! I'm going in to my 4th year of 1st grade......... I need help with management and accountability, too. I do good in the summer and usually maintain during the 'year'. You know, the YEAR starts in August and ends in May. Why don't people GET me when I say 'this year'?? :grumble:
Forgot to mention I'm also a wife and mother of 2 children and 2 fur children.0 -
