This is just a poll / curiosity question for the people of MFP:
How often do you check your scale?
If it happens to be once a week, do you have a certain day you check your scale on?

1x/wk
Sunday, which is also my rest day, and after a no lifting day0 -
Usually once a week. Recently its been everyday but I need to stop because all the water weight.0

I check the scales twice a week, once on a saturday morning and once on wednesday (mid-week) to make sure that i am on track. I find checking mid-week gives me a bit of comfort otherwise if i have to wait a whole week I get too anxious which means I can go off the rails. If my goal is a 2 pound weekly loss, i hope by wednesday to have lost 1 pound and another 1 pound by saturday. It works for me...0

Once a week!0

It used to be once a week on a Sunday morning.. but then my scales broke! Now I'm weighing fortnightly at my dad's on a Saturday morning and measuring myself on the weeks I can't weigh.0

Every day in the morning. Not checking my weight for over 2 years has brought me here after all. But I check in my weight into the system to track progress once per week usually; on Saturdays or Sundays.0

When I visit my doctor.0

Practically everyday to get a sense of where I am at and what I need to do....this does not discourage me...0

Every day in the morning, unless I'm not at home that morning. It does go up and down some, but this doesn't bother me.0
-
I check every day to make sure mine is still under the bed where it belongs!:happy:0

I weigh every morning after toilet first thing. There is no point to weigh at any other time of day.0

Maybe once a month, if that. I don't think the scale is an accurate indicator of fat loss. I prefer to measure inches and go off how I feel.0

I check the scale everyday in the morning when I get up. Howeve,r I only really track progress on my weight once on Monday mornings. I find that if I check everyday it just helps me focus more on losing weight. If I'm a little lighther I'm happy and want to be even lighter. If I'm a little heavier then I'm more determined t eat less and exercise more to lose weight.
Thats just me though.0 -
Just starting- AGAIN!! Currently every day. But once I convince myself my weight is trending down, I'd like to just track fat loss on a weekly basis. That's the plan anyhow!0

Most mornings after my toilet trip.
Occasionally I forget. Friday morning is my 'check in' day.
I understand and accept the fluctuations etc so I don't freak out if I jump a few pounds overnight, nor do I celebrate a loss of a few pounds overnight. I just find it keeps me on track better.0 -
I WEIGH-IN ONLY ONCE A WEEK ON SUNDAY MORNING, AFTER MY SHOWER BUT BEFORE BREAKFAST.0

Every day since it fluctuates. That way I have a weekly average to go by:
07/13/13 170.0 lbs
07/12/13 169.8 lbs
07/11/13 170.6 lbs
07/10/13 169.8 lbs
07/09/13 171.6 lbs
07/08/13 171 lbs
07/06/13 169.8 lbs
Average: 170.40 -
Daily, after taking a shower. I log every Friday.0

daily. its an addiction.
Yep. Sometimes twice.0 -
Every morning. Wake, pee, weigh.
Not to check my daily weight so much as to learn about daily fluctuations and chart it!0 -

Why after a shower. I never understand this, but I see all the guys do it at the gym. Not to side track this, but you have all this water and moisture in your skin. It weighs more. Weigh dry before shower. I don't know why, but it drives me nuts. Lol. Don't mind me. Carry on.0

first thing every morning. i am better in the evening knowing i have to face the scale in the morning0

I check the scale twice a month. The 15th and the last day of the month!!0

Never!!! Why? Its about your size. right? So I measure!!
Besides:
Here are my 6 reasons why your weight (in lbs, kg, tons, whatever) really means very little in the grand scheme of health, fitness & fat loss: 1) Muscle. Muscle weighs MORE than fat in LESS SPACE. 2) Water weight. You can literally gain up to 5-7 lbs within the same day! 3) Your weight is not an accurate reflection of how you look in clothes or on stage. Your body fat % dictates what dress size you wear, though two people can wear the exact same size and look completely different. 4) Your weight is not always an accurate measure of health. Ever hear of “skinny fat?” This is someone who tends to have a higher metabolism, stays thin, but is flabby with a high body fat percentage. 5) Your ego. Let’s face it, you get an ego boost when you weigh yourself and get a lower number. How do you respond when the number goes UP? 6) Playing with your self-worth. If we are losing weight, we are good. If we are gaining weight, we are a failure? “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” –Eleanor Roosevelt http://jillfit.com/2011/12/20/weight-means-nothing/0 -
Once every 2-3 weeks, in the weekend and in the morning before eating, showering etc. I'm in maintenance though0
-
Every morning. I don't get discouraged (anymore) by the ups and downs so it works for me!0
