I recently looked into this method and by what I saw and heard it makes sense. Has anyone on here had success? If I did High fat Low carb my daily intake would be a 50% fat or 100G, 30% protein and 20% carbs which is 90g. Is this a good area to start? Any suggestions?

Low carb-high fat has a wide range. That one is one of the moderate splits. Whether it's a good split for you, depends on why you think it makes sense and why you consider trying it, and how you like to eat.

All that matters for weight loss is that you consume fewer calories than you burn. If a high fat/low carb diet helps you do that, it will work for you. Experiment and see what works best for you.

I've have seen people saying eating high fats have helped them to regain shinyness to their hair and help them to improve hormones and other benefits. I think I'll try it for 3 weeks to see where it takes me.

I've done the Paleo diet which is basically what that is and yes it works.

Sounds like a good plan. I hope it helps with your hair!

I eat LCHF I strongly recommend you to do your research and also to join the LCHF forum on MFP to receive appropriate advice and support.

My hair actually got softer after I joined MFP and started eating more fat - I also feel better generally, less cravings, more energy, better sleep - I worked specifically on this, not just with food, but I think a better meal structure helped. Letting myself eat plenty of fat made me crave vegetables, and I've always loved fruit, and now I focus on variety and enjoyment - so I think the overall better diet is the reason, not just one thing.

The only thing is, the hair you can see is dead. Changing your diet won't change that hair, it'll change the new hair growth. It'll take more than a couple of weeks to see if it makes a difference for you.

You might try using something like coconut oil on your hair if you want to see a difference in a shorter period of time.

I tried it for the first day yesterday and I actually felt more energy. I don't know if it was just a placebo effect. But i felt great and was full thru the whole day.

I've been doing HFLC for 2.5 weeks. I've lost 10.5 lbs. That's a lot for a 5"3 woman with PCOS. I definitely recommend it.

I have been very LCHF for over a year. It can really work for some people.

Be aware that when people cut carbs they tend to lose water weight, and along with that they lose electrolytes. Those who cut carbs to keogenic levels (less than 50g of carbs) tend to need 5000-3000mg of sodium per day. You may need a few thousand mg of sodium per day to replace what you are losing. A teaspoon of table salt has about 2000mg of sodium.

If you get a headache, fatigued, brain fog, muscle weakness or spasms, or nauesea, you'll know your electrolytes have got much too low.

I agree with joining the Low Carber Daily if you want more advice. Most low carbers do not frequent the main boards.
