So... I'm pretty sure they are not that good for you but I thought I would ask before I get where I'm hooked on them! Is there anyone that drinks the sparkling Ice waters? I drink a lot of water but sometimes I crave something carbonated and I gave up diet sodas months ago! I will never go back to sodas but I would like something carbonated every now and then. What's your thoughts on them and do you have any suggestions??

I love them and there's nothing wrong with drinking them just like there is nothing wrong with drinking any diet drink.10

Not good for you. Not bad for you. As you stated they are flavored water so no nutritional benefit or harm.7
-
The only real harm that can come from carbonated beverages is if you have the restrictions that come from WLS or if you drink ONLY these beverages, because they can sometimes promote stomach upset and even ulcers due to the acidic nature... but that comes with any soda water, really. I swapped out most energy drinks and things for soda water with a little mio dropped in, it's wayyyyy cheaper. But for a quick and easy one? No probs... *sips her Peach Nectarine flavored ICE water*2

Fruit2o is awesome too especially their new limeade flavours. I am particularly fond of the blueberry limeade!3
-
If they weren't good for me I would have gotten sick at some point in the last two years from them. Especially the Cherry Limeade.7

They're carbonated, they're artificially sweetened, and some have artificial color. If you gave up diet soda due to a religious reason, I'd say stay away from them. If you gave them up because of food babe-esque woo, rethink your reasons. There's not some magic difference between a Sprite Zero and a Sparkling Ice, other than flavor and marketing.
I prefer the 1liter bottles of carbonated flavored water, but that's because I like the flavors, and they're $.79 for a 1L bottle, versus $.99 for a 20 ounce bottle. That's really just a personal preference--They really are just a generic diet soda, and that's okay, as with anything in moderation.9 -
I usually get one or two whenever I go grocery shopping. There's nothing wrong with them, unless you have an aversion to sucralose [it's the artificial sweetener used in them].6502programmer wrote: »They're carbonated, they're artificially sweetened, and some have artificial color. And sweetener used. Sprite Zero is sweetened by aspartame, and Sparkling ICE [as I mentioned] is sweetened by sucralose. Though there's nothing really bad about either sweetener.

I drink them every now and then. I don't think there's anything wrong with something like that in moderation.
My husband and I have become very fond of club soda mixed with no sugar added juice. The juice has calories, but fewer chemicals.2 -

Everything is a chemical.....3 -
Dentally inadvisable
But for losing weight carbonated no calorie drinks, including diet sodas, = water0 -
I got a sodastream. Soda water with a couple of slices of lime, lemon or berries muddled in the bottom. Natural and 0-5 calories. They also do flavourings, I have never bothered with them, so can't comment on them.
Cheers, h.
ETA: the sodastream paid for itself within the first month. A 2L bottle of soda water costs over $2 in my neck of the woods.0 -
I also switched to Soda Stream a few years ago. I was drinking regular Pepsi. I was still drinking 2 liters of the soda stream cola till I started here 5 weeks ago. Now I allow myself 1/4 of that over the course of a whole day. I don't drink coffee or any other hot drinks so that is my go to in the morning and a little with my meals. I also use it to carbonate water and then add one of the flavored MIOs. I love it.0

I drank them for a while before I gave up all carbonated beverages.0

They aren't good for my wallet. I'm looking to get a Sodastream but am content with diet sodas and those drinks.0

If you can find the supplies for the Soda Stream. I have a Soda Stream myself, but none of the stores here carry the CO2 tanks or the flavors for Soda Streams anymore. It seems to be slowly dying out.0 -
@xvolution wow, sorry to hear that.
Here, north of the border and as west as you can get, they are very popular, just about every corner drug store sells supplies.

Lacroix!! It really is just carbonated water with natural flavoring. No added aspartame or other nonsense.0

What, you don't want another 10 page thread where you're incredibly patient and helpful with people, trying to explain real science, only to get continuously baited by people who buy into Internet woo? Whyever not?10 -

Aspartame is fine

I've lost my taste for carbonated beverages, mostly. I didn't choose to do so, I just lost my taste for them around the age of 60. Now having a carbonated beverage is an occasional thing for me. Of the non-sweetened carbonated waters I favor Perrier grapefruit, but it's harder to find. When I'm out I'll have a plain San Pellegrino sometimes. Mostly I use the little squeeze bottles of flavoring to add a bit of flavor to my water. I don't worry about the "chemicals" -- I'll choose a bottle of something flat sweetened with monkfruit and/or stevia if available, else I'll drink what's available. Ice is OK. I choose soft drinks for their flavor, not for their health benefits.3

tastes like liquid garbage to me! I spit out the first sip I took. Everyone in my family tried them (several flavors) and we all refused to take more than that first drink. Dumped all the cans down the sink and threw the cans into the recycling bin.2 -

Hmm......I haven't had LaCroix in years. Have you tried Klarbrunn? I usually see this in plastic bottles (Target). Black Cherry....mmm.
Anyway - diet soda, Sparkling Ice (Splenda).....one in the same. Neither aspartame or splenda have ever given me any problems.1 -
I personally can't stand the taste of the Sparkling Ice beverages. They all have a weird after taste to me. I love Dasani's and La Croix' sparkling waters. They're my go to beverage now.0

Someone who is all about CICO would just say 0 calories so it doesn't matter.
In my unprofessional opinion, putting chemicals in your body so that you enjoy water is not smart1 -
My favorite is the Walmart brand Clear American Ice in practically every flavor. I think they are $2.50 an 8 pack so it is similarly priced with soda. 3% juice, green tea, no aspartame.3

You know everything is chemicals right? Nothing in these drinks is remotely dangerous5 -

It's a different fake sweetener, so what? There are sodas with a different fake sweetener too. The addition of green tea is pure marketing......trying to make this sound like a health drink. All hype.2 -
