Happiness, true happiness, what is it, how do you find it. Is it a chemical response in your brain? Is it the conscious choice you make everyday to be happy.

I cant remember when In the past I was just happy, in that moment. I find myself forcing a smile, presently, and making myself be personable, and inside Im not that person.

I see people all the time, just smiling and happy, and going about there day, like its the best day of their lives. Are they normal, and Im just the broken one?

    any and all thoughts welcome

    Great question.

I think happiness could be considered as the emotional, heart felt response to being contented/joyful in/about something.

In my experience, every person on the planet is subconsciously pursuing it. The bigger question is why?

  • There is something called 'the cult of happiness'. In our world, 'happiness' is a marketing tool. Buy this/use that and you will be happy. It's the driving force behind our economy.
But happiness is fleeting and more about being content. And if you're content you wouldn't buy as much stuff. So the world runs on the pursuit of happiness without ever wanting anyone to achieve it.

I have a family I love and hang out with, a job that's low stress and I truly enjoy, I get to work out whenever I want, and enjoy just about all sports year around and watch the Walking Dead.

    I'm pretty happy.

Sometimes I wonder if I deserve to be happy. Then there are people around here that name themselves things like icheatonmywife and I wonder if maybe they are slightly less deserving?

I don't actually think they were the ones who named themselves that.

Yeah but his wife was just trying to ruin his goals

well it's exceedingly hard to be happy when there are women in your life who are always trying to ruin your goals.

Oh my I just chortled a little lol

Was it a chortle or guffaw?

I'm a happy person so I thought I'd have an easy answer. But as I try to put it into words I find it hard. I really think the glass half full cliché might say it best. Optimism.

Today's happiness was doing something I love and can do well and proving to myself I can still attempt and master difficult things.

Ninerbuff, you are showing it - contentment and gratitude. When you know how good you have it, you have it good. Congratulations!
