Beth got me cross country skis for my birthday!!

I took them out for a night ski. Was just too excited to not play with them. It was -2 degrees F. Screw it, I have a new toy.
This is the Mazama Store. No, they don't sell Mazamas; it's called that because it's the only store in town. I mean, there's a rock climbing shop if you need biners or webbing or a new harness, but if you just need food or gasoline or water or whatever, it's the Mazama Store, or you're driving to Winthrop. The next store is about 100 miles going the other way. They have fantastic lattes and good fresh, hot food. It's a local cornerstone.

There were two trails I wanted to do on my new skis: Doe Canyon, and Gunn Ranch Road. They never groomed the canyon while I was there. But I'd never done the second trail, and got my chance. Gunn Ranch Road is one of the more scenic cross country trails in the valley, and goes into Rendezvous Basin, where there are a bunch of huts strung out along the trails. You can reserve huts for specific nights and ski from Winthrop to Mazama over the course of about a week, staying in backcountry cabins along the way. When Beth gets better on skis we'll make a trip of it.
