I don't post too much around here, I stay pretty isolated, check my security system like I've got OCD, and I definitely don't hit start on the garmin right out the door anymore but I do miss being social. And I love interacting with people who can banter with me without getting butt hurt.
You don't have to live in fear. There are alot of ways to mask your online presents so that you are difficult to track. I am a huge advocate of privacy online, because people don't know how bad it can be, even if they have "nothing to hide". For example, did you know it's pretty easy to track people's photos on Instagram and Twitter and match it to their location, even with geotag turned off? Turn off location services on your phone as this provides metadata on the picture, that you won't see but programs can easily read, and delete all your photo location info.
Here are some basic things to do first:- don't use real information for any website , like personal emails or connect with Facebook, Instagram or any other social media feature. Most sites that ask for these are trying to use your info to sell to advertising, so it's worth not using it anyways. Create some bogus emails if you need them that have no link to you personally. Also use private mode on your browser, as it deletes all the tracking cookies for sites you visit.
- Lock down all your social media sites so that you know who can view what you post and who can't.
- Also make sure none of your fitness equipment is linked to any other site. And use a fake profile for all fitness equipment.
- Don't give away little details that seem harmless but have much more info then you think. For example, "I moved 2 hours south" I bet if I know where you use to live; I would have a pretty good idea of where you are located now.
- Turn off location services on your phone. (although, that by itself is not always enough, check the settings of apps you use and what it wants to use.)
These are just some starters. I would also look at this website: https://www.privacyrights.org/consumer-guides/are-you-being-stalked#3
Another good quick read is this: Cyber-stalking, Privacy Intrusion at It's Scariest - SANS White Paper

mehhh I guess I don't care that much. If it's important like "AAAUGH! Leak in basement! Where's the water valve?" I am going to call. Texting is whatever. I have friends that bombard me with messages after bedtime or during work (and they KNOW what my bedtime is bc I have to be at work early) so I turn off the sound to my phone at these times and if they send me a bunch of crap when I've stated I'm not available, I will not answer. Real life comes before texts!0

I don't do small talk or texting.
Hate it.
Have something relevant and good to talk about.4 -
... how the crap does any guy expect to get any action calling women "broads"? Freakin disrespectful. How would it be if women called guys "wide loads" or something equivalent like that? gross.0

I am more of a far load kinda guy.
Just sayin.
Berrrump Berrrrump Tshhhh!
But seriously, two things here. First, guys should be more respectful. Second, women tend to take on some pretty derogatory terms as some kinda badge of courage and pride. Say, the word Biotch anymore. Used to be bad now women call themselves it all the time, or use it all the time in referring to other women. So men pick that up and they call them biotchez too.

My garmin would upload my running routes to the site and this guy showed up my house. My front *kitten* door. The courts had to get involved. I've changed names, stopped tracking miles, moved 2 hours south. He still emails me. A girls gotta be careful these days.
Ill leave you alone...my bad. Didn't have to loud me out here...
seriously though that is really creepy and sorry you went through that.0 -

That's pretty messed up.
You can go into your profile on Connect and make it so everything you upload is private, so people can't see where your runs start and end.0 -
