    Nice XT today today @BeeerRunner

Thanks @MNLittleFinn !! I did 5 running days a week for my half marathon, and was pleased with my results. I wanted to go with 6 for my marathon, but with my leg issues, that did not happen. I'm feeling optimistic that I'll be running on pavement soon, but I definitely don't want to get hurt again. So, Tuesday will be cross training day for me and 5 days of running.

Also, to answer your other question, I'm using Hal Higdon. It's what I used for my 10K, 15K and Half Marathon races, and I was super pleased with my results. My cousin (who lives in MN by the way) recommended his plans to me when I started getting into running, and they worked for me. I just adjust some of the days around based on my schedule.

@BeeerRunner that photo is awesome! Your smile, your son's HUGE smile, then #1274's look of pain only serves to make you and your son's smiles stand out. That is just awesome! I never would have guessed you'd be in the Masters category though.

My Baker's cyst lasted for many, many months, sad to say, but it was so long ago that I can't recall how long. Eventually I started to take Glucosamine for my knee pain and through subsequent trial and error I've come to be a huge believer in it, but I can't recall if it helped my Baker's cyst or not.

@7lenny7 Yeah...it's so weird how they allow me in the Master's Category since I'm only "29 again and again and again..." LOL! ;) One thing I've noticed is that runners tend to look younger than they are. When you see those winning the 50+ and 60+ age group awards, most of them look 10 to 20 years younger.

When I was coming up to the finish, people were hollering at me that I was 2nd. At the end of the race, we were mixed in with a bunch of 5K runners, so I couldn't keep track of who was who. So, I had a big smile for being 2nd place female and being able to push past the competition at the very end. Plus, seeing my son race out to run across the finish line with me was just adorable! <3

I've been taking Glucosamine already, and I totally believe it helps. When I was in my 30's, I was told I had arthritis in my left knee (years of ice skating, ballet, and then I got kicked in that knee by a horse in college) all contributed to that I guess. My right knee was fine until just these past few weeks, but this is a different feel than arthritis pain. It's definitely from those cysts and resembles more of a hamstring type pain

I thought today's hill workout was super $hitty until I read about all of the truly crappy runs today. :flushed: Now I almost feel like I can't complain.

    Almost.

I didn't make it all of the way running up my hills today having to walk part of each on. I'm trying really hard not to be a pi$$y little cry-baby biotch about it though. I still made it to the top of each one, and did 45 minutes of work total.

But between this and the frustrations over my greatly reduced pace, endurance, added weight, blah, blah, yada, yada, bing, bang bong...it kinda blows.

I can hold it together though...

    10/24 - Turtle!
    10/25 - Cookies
    10/26 - WAAH! WAAH! Sniffle!

    10/26 22 Push-up challenge, assisted

Went out to run yesterday evening. After having @Stoshew71 clarified conversational pace, I tried to go slower. It took a lot of focus to go at a pace that did not feel "normal". I think half the time, I was running a little faster than comfortable conversational but still slower than what I used to. But even in that slow pace, I felt some aches from the tempo run on Sunday. After the run, I finally pick up the courage to finish the 22 push-up challenge that I was nominated from FB. Even the assisted felt so very very hard

@beeerrunner I just love that picture!!!!
@runrachellerun At a meet a couple weeks back Skip was late getting to the start and then said I have to pee. I was like well good luck the bathrooms are like 2 miles away (okay not quite) there was a patch of woods about 50 yards from the start and she ran in there to go. She said did anyone see me, oh no honey you were good. Like of course everyone who saw her heading that way KNEW what her plan was LOL The first time she peed coming down the front stretch of a track race she was horrified and crying, after her coach told her that he had a state champ who peed at the end of every single race she didn't care anymore. Her thought is why be miserable and try to hold it in when I can let it go and just keep running. She keeps a spare pair of undies and shorts in her bag and also a spare pair of uniform shorts in case it's a track meet and she has to run multiple races.

@_nikkiwolf_ I don't know when I missed the post, didn't know that you have a full marathon coming. Best of luck!
@BeeerRunner I was going to say the same thing, and I almost thought you really meant they let you in at 29!

I wish!! LOL! On a good note, I'm almost at my 1 year anniversary of starting a healthy lifestyle (for the most part), and even though I'm in the Masters category, I do feel better now than I did at 29.

@MNLittleFinn What is it you do for work? I work at a day training and habilitation program for adults with disabilities and volunteer as a therapeutic horseback riding instructor.

@skippygirlsmom I was terrified of having to poop on the trails, especially at night, during Ragnar Trail. Thankfully, that was not the case and I was able to focus on not thinking about bears!

@Elise4270 Peeing while running is not an "I've had kids" thing. I've tinkled a bit while running and have not birthed any children. The worst is always during summer running. I tend to grab two waters at the water stations so I can drink one and dump one over my head; the one over my head usually shocks the system into peeing a bit. But, when it's that hot out, it's worth it! Oh, and my PT has done the single leg stands on foam with me, too. It's always harder that it looks!

This month isn't looking too good. I almost didn't come back to the group. Gluten and vacation got the better of me. Today was super slow for me (13:01 avg). I am determined to get back into the swing of workouts. 4 am wake ups are hard BUT I feel so much better when I do them & get my run in, still too hot to run later in the day.

    10/3: 6 miles
    10/4: 3 miles
    10/9: 26.2 miles -- Chicago Marathon
    10/13: 3 miles
    10/15: 3 miles
    10/18: 3 miles
    10/20: 4 miles
    10/22: 3 miles
    10/23: 6 miles
    10/24: 3 miles

No new running mileage updates as yesterday was a planned rest day and today was an unplanned rest day. I'm feeling under the weather but took the day off of work and have gotten a lot of rest, so hopefully tomorrow I will feel well enough to get a run in.

@Orphia Congrats on knocking a few awesome bucket list items off the list!
@lporter229 Thanks for the feedback on the Flying Pig. I've heard that it's a bit hilly from others as well, but I'm glad to know that it's mostly in the first half. I actually haven't done Columbus before because it always falls the week after Chicago, which I have run the past three years since I started running full marathons. I don't think I'm putting my name in the hat for Chicago next year though, so I'll probably end up doing Columbus.
@MNLittleFinn I'm enjoying running in 50 and 60 degree weather and am refusing to believe that it will soon be much colder. We were spoiled with a very mild winter last year, but I've heard we're not going to be so lucky this year.
@Stoshew71 The USAF marathon was actually supposed to be my first marathon, but instead it was my first DNS due to a shin stress fracture diagnosed just a week prior. I'm happy the KDM ended up being my first because I ran the USAF one the following year and it wasn't exactly the most exciting marathon. Good idea about Pittsburgh...I have a feeling it's in the fall, but I'll look into it.
@7lenny7 Thanks for the link. I use that website all the time to find races. I was sort of looking for personal recommendations though since it's kind of hard to get a feel for a race though a link. I'll have to look through some of the reviews.
@kristinegift Haha, thanks for the LOL but glad you're okay and didn't get hit by a car!

Sorry guys, I tried to catch up on all the posts I missed but I'm going to have to skim the last few pages

No soreness on today's hot afternoon recovery run, despite having biked pretty hard with my tri team this morning (including a bunch of garmin connect top 10 segments). I think my fixie bike seat is a bit high, which is what did in my left quad yesterday, as I felt like I was 100% today. As a result, I'll stay off the fixie until after the IM then play around with seat height. Just planning some easy runs, then a final longer run this weekend before my final taper week.

    10/1 - 5 miles (w. 5x800s @ 6:00 pace)
    10/2 - 8 miles (finished at MP)
    10/3 - 4 miles
    10/4 - 4 miles
    10/5 - 4 mile
    10/8 - 3 miles
    10/9 - 26.2 miles (3:04:57 - Chicago marathon, 7:03 pace)
    10/13 - 4 miles
    10/15 - 6 miles
    10/17 - 12 miles
    10/18 - 5 miles
    10/20 - 8 miles

    10/22 - 15 miles
    10/23 - 6 miles

LOL I was thinking the same thing! I was cracking up at your post @WhatMeRunning. Not at your expense - just your description.

@BeeerRunner - LOVE the picture!!!! Who gets a good picture at the finish!? None of us! Your son looks so happy, and so do you, it's just absolutely adorable! You should definitely print it and frame it. He'll be grown up in two blinks (trust us with adult children on that!)

@_nikkiwolf_ - it's so frustrating the way they change the models/versions of pants and bras so often! I always have that issue with sports bras. I have two Under Armour ones I love - but I can't find them online. They are relatively new and I bought them in a sports store that went out of business (Sports Authority). There are tons of bras on the UA website, but none seem to match the ones I love. My old favorite sports bra was a Victoria Secret sports bra - I got it when they first came out with their sports line about 3 years ago. I decided after a month that I loved it and went to buy another one and they were all gone already. I guess if we find pants/shorts/bras we love we need to just buy a bunch at once. Although who can afford to do that!

@skippygirlsmom - Skip is a trip! TOO funny! Why be miserable, just let it go!
