Has anyone tried intermittent fasting? Does it work?

Yes it does. It makes eating at caloric deficit ridiculous easy. It also has a bunch of other health benefits. Check that out on YouTube. If you do try it out, start off with the standard 16/8 window. Once you've adapted to it you can reduce your eating window as you see fit.

Yes I tried IF and it works for some people and not for others.
I just regard IF as an adherence tool.

There's lot's of different IF protocols not just the Leangains one. I liked 5:2 for weight loss but disliked 16:8 / Leangains as I felt restricted.

Now I'm just eating ad lib and maintaining happily, do feel that IF gave me some extra tools and understanding of how my hunger signals work though.
Try it - you might like it.

Which type? 5:2, Eat stop Eat, 16:8, ADF?

My husband does 5:2 and it really works well for him. I basically do Eat Stop Eat where I fast for one 24 hour period. As far as the 16:8 or 17:7 protocol, I sort of do that each day anyways the way I break fast each day.

My hunger signals work well when I delay eating as I am able move past that pretty well to stick to IF. Others will have a more difficult time with IF than others.

It works as long as you are in a caloric deficit. I did it for a few months, took a break and now I am starting back at it again. My goal is to fast for at least 16 hours, but I go longer sometimes. I'm just not so strict with myself like I used to be about it. I started it in March of this year, and it helped A LOT with work, being I work around lots of unheathy ready to eat foods. It kept me from snacking all day, and I would break fast at 4 PM. I lost 40 lb in 3 months. Now, I'm not so focused on the time because I have learned to listen to my body.

I still count calories while doing IF because that's what its really all about when it comes to weight loss. Like a previous commenter already mentioned, IF makes it a lot easier to be at a deficit.

It's all about calorie deficit. If this helps you stick to it....then yes, it will work.

The verdict is still out on the many health benefits.

This is brilliant. I adopt the same approach in terms on not being a slave to the clock. And like you my body actually prefers to eat around that 3/4 pm time frame. I think ultimately listening to ones body is the what you learn when you eventually go full circle on your health journey. Well done with your loss!
