A calorie deficit is the only thing that will cause you to lose weight. I used lemon water to replace a heavy Mtn Dew habit when I first started losing, but only because I couldn't (can barely now) stomach plain water.

Why would sugar water help with weight loss? Also, there is nothing special about lemon/lime/acv, either.

Damn. The amount of urban myths still lurking out there is shocking. None of those will do anything. You're probably eating in a deficit already and you drinking that is tricking you into thinking that's making you lose the weight. Scrap all of that. Just eat healthily within a caloric deficit and you'll be on your way. No need for honey or lime concoctions.

Google. Now there's a reliable source of good information.

If you really want to learn more, don't rely on what you find on Google ... take a diet and nutrition class at your local university. :)

Don't believe everything just because it is on the internet and can be searched.there is SO much woo out there. If I believed everything on Google, cats would be aliens.. ;)

Count calories for weight loss. Some of us have tried fad diets and woo recipes like the one you posted and found they didn't work at all. Some here work in the science field and can confirm that woo has no place in weight loss.

A calorie deficiency and exercise perhaps? You didn't gain weight in a single day by overeating on a salad...

    None.

Eat less than you burn and you will lose weight.

Adding either honey or lemon would elevate sugar levels in the blood stream.. i.e. neither will help you lose weight.

Neither of those things are going to make a bit of difference. Weight management is about energy balance (or in the case of losing or gaining, a lack of energy balance).

Essentially (though a bit oversimplified), a calorie is a unit of energy. Your body requires XXXX amount of energy to maintain the status quo...much of this energy requirement is just you existing...then you have to provide energy for your day to day stuff as well as exercise.

When you consume a balance of energy, you will maintain your weight...you will neither shrink nor grow your fat stores. When you consume an excess of energy, that energy is stored as body fat...you can think of this as your backup generator. When you consume less energy than your body requires to do all of the things it does, your backup generator kicks on and you burn body fat to make up for that energy deficiency.

There are no magical potions...it's all about energy balance.

Be careful about what you read on the internet or in diet and fitness magazines...there's a lot of woo out there.

Calorie deficit. Consuming less than you need to maintain your current weight and/or burning more calories through activity.
You can't speed weight loss up by drinking warm honey water. You'd be better off drinking plain water because it is no calorie.
You can certainly find claims of fast weight loss on the internet but weight loss is about calories. Everyone who loses weight fast or slow is consuming fewer calories.
MFP will tell you how many calories to consume to lose weight at a healthy rate.

I like the idea of water with lemon or lime in it as well.
