Activity Levels on MFP

I set my MFP activity level to moderate. I have a sedentary job and drive atleast 2 hours on week days but work out 3 times a week for atleast an hour each time. I do mix of strength, core strength and cardio as well as a pilates/yoga class for an hour on Fridays. I often go hiking for a couple of hours on a weekend.

When I do machine cardio I log my exercises calories on MFP. Am I screwing up my net calories by doing this? Is MFP already accounting for my workouts to some extent by the activity level I've set?

I'm really confused! Can someone explain please?

Purposeful exercise is nothing to do with your activity setting on here - otherwise you would be counting it twice.
You sit to drive, you sit to work, that's sedentary.

MFP is different to TDEE calculators which take exercise into account and you get credited with a rough average estimate of exercise calories. That's why commonly people who set their daily calorie goal using a TDEE calculator log their exercise as 1 cal.

So I'm double booking myself essentially! Got it, will change my settings and see if that helps. Thank you :)

Set to sedentary & log workouts in addition.

Moderate would mean you have a job where you are active/on your feel more often (teaching, for example). Switch your settings to sedentary. Still log exercise, but remember to only eat back half the calories if you are trying to lose.
