I'm frustrated at how slow I'm losing. The first 4 weeks I barely lost. Then the past few weeks I lost 5#. But now stopped. Why is this coming off so slow when plenty of other people can lose every week? I'm 165, 38yrs, female.

I feel your struggle. I just started my weight loss plan 2 weeks ago and I haven't lost anything. I am on a 1290 caloric diet plan, 38 yrs. old female and 156 pounds. My advice- keep going it can only drop. WE CAN DO THIS!

Do not compare yourself to other people. Weight loss varies based on your starting weight, your caloric deficit, and a variety of other factors.

One thing that helped me when I was losing these last 20 pounds (I've lost 105 total) was eating "maintenance" calories for a week, then deficit calories for a week, and then back to maintenance. The funny thing is, I lost more weight during the maintenance phases. I think it's because I had more energy...

5lbs is better than 0 pounds! slow and steady is a sure way that the weight will stay off.... keep on going!

ps it took me a year to lose 20lbs but 4 yrs later that weight loss is still history.

Keep at it! If youre worried just lock down your tracking, make sure youre not forgetting any food you eat and your weighing everything.

You are losing.. 5 pounds in three weeks is right on par with your goals.. And not all people lose each week, some people myself included will not lose at all one week and then drop the next one, depending on "you", where you are with starting weight, you might could lose the first week and then nothing and drop more the next one, etc..

Weight loss simply is not linear.. and not all bodies are the same.

It's easy to become impatient when you first start and the losses are slow - but the weight loss WILL come. To be prudent, you may wish to double check that you're being accurate with your calorie count. It's easy to underestimate your intake. Not saying that's what you're doing - but you might wish to eliminate that possibility. Some people use scales to weight their food, etc. I don't wish to live that way, personally, but that works for many people. Are you eating your exercise calories back? I leave half or more as a buffer for my mistakes and that's worked well for me. Good luck - you have got this! Stay with it and the pounds will start to drop. You can do it! p.s. Also recheck what you set your lifestyle to when you set your goal. Don't put 'active' if you're 'sedentary' or your calorie quota will be off.

I am only losing 1/2 pound to 1 pound a month. I only have about 15 pounds left but once I stopped obsessing about losing "x amount by x date", it clicked that this is a lifestyle change. Once I hit my goal, I'm still going to measure my food, go to the gym, and live an active life. It has taken 9 months for me to lose 18 pounds because if I would have tried drastic measures like before, I would have quit already.

That's a pretty good rate of loss actually. I'm 35 and los 4 pounds the first month, now stuck at a plateau already the last week or so. I fugure it will start again soon, probably just has to do with hormones. The people who lose super fast & consistently are probably young, have a lot to lose, men, or are cutting too many calories and losing muscle too, not just fat. Be happy that it is working. Also the closer you get to your goal weight the slower the weight loss goes.
