Finding ways to cope with stress other than eating - exercise, meditation, playing with the cats, hobbies.

Tell yourself you are worth it and show yourself you care about you. It's kinda hokey but also true. We all have bad days, just do better at the next meal. Log it and move on. Eventually you will make more better choices than not so good choices. The most important thing is to stick with it.

    I see the formula differently.

Eating = my choice, my choice = good decision or bad decision, good decision or bad decision = the consequences that make me who I am.

how bout try Stress = exercise, exercise = healthy body/mind, healthy body/mind = satisfaction, satisfaction = peace.

happiness is a choice....how do you see your world. its easy to say i'm a victim..takes off the hard responsibility for seeing life positively. i'm over simplifying to state a point in which i believe in. yes, harder said than done.

I would day that you should try to change the stress and sadness.

Prayer works for me to not worry, which is at least half, if not 80% of what people call "stress."

The next thing is that gratitude to God for the good in our lives helps me to be a happy person. 90% of most Americans lives are good. When we get sad is because we are focusing on the 10% that is wrong. The way to change that focus is intentionally giving thanks for the many blessings you have. Because life is not 100% perfect all the time. Once you fix one issue, what happens? So stop fretting about where your life falls short, and focus on where it is more than enough.

And, if you get really into Jesus, as one gospel writer says, the cares of this world grows strangely dim. They are like the background blur filter on a camera. When you focus on him, the problems lose their sharpness and magnitude.

If you'd like to hear more about my thoughts on happiness, let me know. I can elaborate some more. Best wishes.

I handle stress by making sure I'm hitting the gym or getting out on the bike...I'm not really a stress eater...I put that stress energy to good use...sometimes just a good yoga session makes the world a better place.

How come whenever this OP posts this type of stuff, my mind goes in a different direction altogether? I guess I need to go sign up in that creepy girls thread.

Maybe because you are probably the nurturing type that is attracted to hurting people. You think you can fix them, and it turns you on. You don't think about all the drama that comes with it?

OP, you talked about some of the accomplishments in your life in your biker thread. They were impressive. Also, your profile pic shows, imo, a strong looking and handsome man with a charismatic smile. If you carry some extra weight, okay. If you're sad at the moment it will probably pass. If it doesn't, it's probably not related to eating too much pizza or being a little bit overweight. You're okay. You're going to figure this out.

    I like her advice!

A guy you are attracted to shares his feelings.
You go all creeper on him.

    I made an observation.

    Sorry!

Listen, I love to eat. I go through gain-lose cycles and I exercise like crazy when I want to shed it. I have the ability to quickly lose by compulsive gymming. I will never stay away from food. Men in my family die early, like mid to late 50s. So I probably have another 20 years and nobody is going to remember me for dieting or healthy eating.

I want my epitaph to read something like ate all forms of french pastries, goat briyani and loved by his kids and wife.

People say.... don't you wanna live longer, retire and enjoy?
Well, retirement looks like a punishment and I see these old dudes sitting and chatting in the dunkin donuts every day and they greet me and do small talk and I ask myself.... do I really want that quiet older life?

Or do I want to be the neighbour next door whose kids won't visit him and the caretaker shows up late and she is such a rotten woman. And I carried his wife to the car so many times because she wants to go to dunkin donuts and the caretaker knocks my door coz she can't lift her, or the many times I had to lift the old gentleman up from the bathroom or bedroom floor and he can't move. They are blessed with such long life but I want to die young like my father and grandfather. They exited the world without all this suffering.

Don't fret about eating. Don't glutton up and exercise as much as possible.

    Hump day rant.

1st thank you for being a great neighbor & 2nd I don't expect to even exist long enough, to become 60 myself but don't even desire, to live to be 50 because of those reasons. Especially since I already have days, that I am bedridden but luckily am still able, to care for myself enough; by myself!

With a bat, or just kick it - beat that circle until it breaks. I have to kick myself in the butt to get out of the house sometimes 'cause it'll do me good. Been there, sometimes it takes a long time to get out of that circle.

my advice though....is to workout. Working out is hard, it takes effort, and it makes it a little easier to say no to the unhealthy foods..a little easier to stick with the good nutrition, and working out also makes you feel happier and better about yourself..giving you the energy and perhaps more positive outlook you need to make the hard choices of passing up the comfort food when you need it. I think exercise is the key.

I do workout a lot!! It helps in many ways (especially in making me hungry) It relieves my stress too but sometimes I get overwhelmed and just want to eat, eat and more eat.. I gues I am luck though, I have never been more than 20 lbs overweight..

I like me, the weight is due to a small back issue that I have so I need to keep fit so less pain. Hard to sleep with pain and I dont do drugs (any) drink (ever) smoke either.. (Damn i sound boring)
