I meant to get up early and run before work today but...it didn't happen. Too bad too, because it was snowing and I love running in that. I'll get in my miles tonight. Unfortunately it will be mid 30's and raining but I gotta get those miles in!

@skippygirlsmom congrats to Skip and great photos! I know what that's like, going through the house, getting stuff sorted out and picked through. Tough times for sure.

@BeeerRunner glad to see your back to running and congrats for the new job AND the bonus PTO!!

@HeatherMN some more observations on the Vivosmart HR...It definitely credits me with less steps than the Fitbit but on a 4 mile run, they were very close to being equal. I think the Garmin may have a better algorithm to figure out what is a step and what isn't so it's more accurate. Walking and counting steps, both match perfectly, so it must be in the extraneous movement. In addition to getting extra steps by grinding coffee, I also get extra steps from the vibrations of mowing the grass and blowing snow with the FitBit. One thing I haven't worked out yet is how the calories credited compare between the two. Still working on that. Initial impression is that Garmin is telling me I've burned more calories for a given number of steps, which is not what I want. I'll let you know when I figure that one out. I also want to compare the HR with the Vivosmart with the HR from my Forerunner with chest strap.

@Elise4270 Forget the violin, learn the fiddle!
@_nikkiwolf_ tissues for a run? Snot Rocket!!
    @shanaber, how's the hamstring feeling?
@MobyCarp I find it amazing that in a month of recovery from a serious injury, our miles are about the same. A testament to your discipline in the recovery process!
@juliet3455 sounds like a nice, neighborly run! I have a few neighbors that run, I should see if they're interested in running some time.

Lots of folks making or crushing their goals, well done!
To those who didn't, great effort getting in what you could. As someone who has missed a lot of monthly goals, I know how things can get in the way.

Well, I had just caught up 2 weeks of missed logging and we blew a fuse at work and I lost the whole thing so I'm not typing it all again. After I run today I will have 50 miles running for November, and I usually walk a mile or two each day and do a little strength training when I can. So there ya go. I need 2.15 miles tonight to hit 50. My goal was 60 but shin pain caused me to take 6 days off. woews2jm695v.png

I was really disappointed last night when I hit stop and saw my 4 mile run averaged 10:04 pace because I felt like I'd really pushed it. But the first half was 21:43 and second half 18:32. I ran up a decent size hill in mile 1 and mile 3. The second time up the hill was like 2 mins faster pace than the first time up. So it was a good run. I've been running some short slow miles to see how my shin holds up and try to do the RW Run Streak. So far, so good.

Didn't make my November goal by 2 miles but I'm looking forward to December's goal. After my run this morning I was in tears because I couldn't feel my fingertips and my right thumb was in pain. I thought I dressed warm enough including hat & gloves. Today I will do some research on what I need to wear to make my runs more enjoyable. Happy running!

@trudyschmidt when I start to feel my finger tips get numb I start shaking my hands as I run. Not as in handshake, but as if I'm trying to flick the water off them when there's no towel in the bathroom after I wash my hands. Not super hard, just enough to get the blood flowing, and in rhythm with my strides. It doesn't help immediately but if i do that at for 15 or 20 seconds every few minutes it seems to help. When it gets really cold, though, I use those cheap chemical handwarmers inside mittens.

do you get Raynauds? I do, although I haven't yet noticed it when I run (it's bad daily at the moment when I leave work to get into my car, and I have no feeling in most of my fingers for about fifteen minutes) It can be due to the sudden shock of change in temperature, Try wearing extra layers of gloves or handwarmers as you start your run.

Didn't even come close to my goal this month. I've had a major job interview coming up and went through two rounds of phone interviews this month as well, so I've been devoting nearly all of my time to preparing for that. I haven't checked this thread at all (sorry), but I'll join the December challenge.

Skip says thanks all! Yeah it's been a rough time, actually a lot worse than I thought, but it's all a part of life.

@MNLittleFinn thank you. Without boring everyone with my family drama, part of the problem is my brother, he lived with my mom and she babied him so he had no reason to adult. Well I'm not his Momma and he has to adult now and it doesn't make it easy, especially when he bad mouths me to the rest of the family and I keep getting nasty grams from my Mom's sisters. Just added stress on top of all the stress of the situation as it is.

    11/30: rest

    TOTAL: 118.1/70

Taking today as a rest day and ending the month with 118.1 miles...48.1 miles over my 70 mile goal! I really wasn't sure what to set my goal as for November, but pretty happy to be almost 50 miles over. I still have to plan out my December running calendar (will probably do that tonight) but I'm probably going to set my goal around 110. Ideally, I'd like to be running a few more miles but between the way my shin has been acting up and some holiday traveling, I may be taking more rest days in December.

01/11 3 miles - lovely bright morning, long may it last
    02/11 3 miles
    03/11 3 miles
11/11 3 miles - I've missed a whole week! I caught a heavy cold in my chest where I could hardly get a sentence out without coughing never mind trying to run. It was totally self inflicted as I didn't dress properly for the huge drop in temperature when running the week before. Plus I was mental busy workwise so could read the posts I did see @5BeautifulDays is back so Welcome Back!
27/11 3.5 miles - 1st run in over 2 weeks, too busy with work, I need to manage my time better cos its the same every year.
28/11 3 miles - a bit sluggish as I ate my dinner before run. I've had good day today, started this morning with a full back massage as my shoulders and neck very really tight and stiff, did a little bit of work and then ordered a new pair of Brooks Adrenaline's online.
29/11 3 miles- that's second evening running in the dark. It felt very peaceful and relaxing as there was no wind or rain.
    30/11 3miles

DONE. Club run distance could hardly have been more perfect today, I thought I might have to do a few laps of the car park after we got back to meet goal but I didn't need to. Goal met!

Also, I got a HUGE but unofficial 5km PB when we ran 3.1 miles back as a time-trial. My time was 24:30, which is down from 26:09!!! I know it doesn't count, even Strava doesn't count it (not really sure why?) so now I just need to emulate it at Parkrun for an official time. It's good to know what I can push to though. A sub-25, who knew I had that in me?! AMAZED by that! Over 1 min 30 improvement in 5 months!!!:smiley::smiley: So obviously I got back to the club house and picked up my membership form, as if I needed any more convincing!

So finished with 33 miles for the month missing my goal by 7 miles but will be back in December trying again.
