Has any diabetic had success with this diet?
I am considering trying this but am concerned about sodium and ketosis levels.

That group should be able to help. If you aren't hypertensive, sodium isn't really a concern (it's an major electrolyte component). But if you eat foods high in potassium and magnesium, you will balance it off. Also, if you exercise, you need higher levels of electrolytes than a normal person.

And what is your concern regarding ketosis?

If you do have fears, just transition to low carb and when you eat carbs, eat them with proteins/fats to help slow the absorption and get most of your carbs from fibrous sources.

Heart attack caused major damage so controlling sodium is a necessity to prevent over working the heart.

Have you discussed this with your cardiologist? And there is plenty of success with just low carb and diabetes. You shouldn't need to go keto to get control your diabetes.

Many T2D's in the group linked above, all of whom got better control of their disease with ketosis or LCHF. There are a few T1D's in there using it too. I'm using it too.

The book, Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution, is a LCHF bible for diabetics. Great book to start with.

Concerning sodium, when one goes LCHF they tend to lose water weight and sodium. Sodium levels tend to fall and we need to supplement more to make up for what we lost. I don't remember every hearing of a keto'er who had higher sodium when they dropped carbs lower, but I could be wrong.

I have control of the Diabetes, my concern is the heart condition. Sodium equals water retention which makes the heart work harder. The heart attack caused a 40 percent loss of heart function and 20 percent of heart strength. My daughter is having tremendous success with a keto diet and feels I would benefit from it also. I have started a low carb diet and will see how I have done after the first month.
