$90.
ETA, at my son’s house
and there are 5 of them.
So expensive.
I don’t know how people are paying for everything.
For real though! I easily spend $100-$150 per week on my food prep alone which doesnt include the rest of my families groceries. Im ready to just buy land, raise my own livestock and have a massive garden.
It’s probably more expensive than you think. Not just the land but the fences and the feed and taxes, water lines and heaters and holding tanks and septic and roofing etc. You will need money in reserve.
There is a STEEP learning curve.
The labor involved is substantial and difficult to do with a full time job
You will still need a full time job.
Don’t let me discourage you though. I have learned & grown so much over these past nearly 11 years. I have loved this property. Still do though I wish I could have done better by it
In my opinion the younger you start the better. I was already in my 40s.
If it’s what you really want, do some serious research both reading and talking to/ observing real people and if you still want it don’t delay
ETA: a lot of people can have a garden that produces what they need in a very small space. I recommend anyone who’s interested in having a large garden give that a try first
You are probably right lol! Lots of time and resources will need to go into it. I really like the idea of knowing where my food comes from though. These are things I have thought about and toss around on if its something I legitimately want to do or not. Maybe I will just stick with a few goats and a donkey
I loved my donkey SO much. 🥰
Saw him chase down and kill a coyote once, he ran around the pasture picking up the body and tossing it in the air then running, doing it again.
He was always the first in the herd of horses to check out trouble.
I enjoy your stories so much. This one was no exception. I knew donkeys could raise an alarm but I didn’t know they would fight!
I wish we could grow pecans here. We just have the nasty tasting walnuts. My peaches make me happy though

In November here, there are always people selling pecans they’ve grown on corners.
The last couple of years the pecans have been outrageously expensive.
This year, I did not see a single person selling pecans.
Must have been a bad year.
Have a family friend that has a pecan orchard and sells all of his pecans to Bama for pies.
Great deal if you can get it. 😀
I love walnuts! 😋1 -

Why my heater isn't working right. Its a new heater. Was replaced 2 years ago...but every year we have had an issue with it 😭
There's 4 cars in my household. All of them have a problem with them. From motor issues to transmission to thermostat and who knows what else. I'm just over this week 😭3 -
had a dream about someone I haven’t seen or spoken to in weeks & in the morning they text me. I’m taking it as a sign I am a powerful witch and y’all better watch out. Also please don’t burn me.1

I grab my phone and look at the screen, it says "Dad." Jeezus. I've never gone through so many emotions in such a short span of time.
I'm thinking it's time to remove my deceased ( that's a hard word to type) parent's contacts from my phone. It just feels so permanent. I don't like it.
I can’t do it

Today I don’t feel like doing anything. I just want to lie in my bed. But I got *kitten* to do and it’s going to get done.
I think the hardest thing will be making sure that I get enough steps for my daily goal.
But I have so much laundry and some outdoor cleanup work and I want to install these hooks to hang up my rakes and hoes and whatnot. And I have more windows to clean.
And if I get that all done, and I still don’t have enough steps, I guess I’ll get on the treadmill.1 -
My boy mentioned he might like to learn to ballroom dance. Totally out of the blue but makes my ice dancer heart happy. He'd be a beautiful dancer and in demand cause he's so tall. Fingers crossed he likes it0

I was wondering about your area. My coastal living is kinda jealous of you rn
Don’t be. Please allow me this one rant and I promise to be good the rest of the month.
the snow is wet & sticky. It builds up on your shoes and you have to stomp the sides of your feet every once in a while, so you don’t walk funny especially when it mixes with the gravel from my driveway.
People forget how to drive from one year to the next and poor people can’t afford snow tires so they slide off the road on their way to their “essential” jobs.
I live at the bottom of a steep hill where the speed limit changes from 55 to 30 and trucks have three times lost control in front of my house and taken out my mailbox.
My dog won’t pee outside when her feet are cold and she hates her booties so we wrestle for 15 minutes getting them on. And then she wants to drag me down a snowy bank into the creek to chase a deer and get us both covered in burrs.
Ok done
Oh! And we have salt mines locally, so why does it take so long for them to salt the road?
AND taking the trash out ugh
And getting the mail2 -

Ok, but that last sentence was too *kitten* cute for words.
I also have a dog like that. She sticks her nose out the doggy door to "check the weather." If it's cold or rainy, she refuses to go outside 🙄
Stay home! Stay off the roads! Please be safe. I only wanted a snowflake or three

I got one of my children a subscription box of fancy treats from around the world. This month was supposed to be Korea. The name on this particular treat looks French to me though I don’t know what it means. I assume it’s included because the French were colonizers too…? Is there a large French influence in Korea?

I just had an epiphany.
The man I married (ex husband) is the male version of my mother.
Of course!
I’ve been so dense!
Like oil and water, I can’t get along well with either one.

I'm wondering whether I should re-join a 90 Day Fitness program which helped me reach my target weight last year, need to lose 5kg again. Or just used the tools and tracking forms they provided me and do it on my own with MFP? 🤔0

I’m peeved coz I had lunch plans with my lifelong friend who has recently moved back from TX, that I had to cancel.
I woke up this morning with a sore throat, headache, plugged nose.
I was afraid I might make her sick.
It has become really difficult to assess whether my symptoms are a cold or just allergies, which have been kicking my rear since I moved into this house 11yrs ago.
