Was just given an Isogenix sales pitch last night

And was told how bad my homemade soup is for the body, fat makes you fat and the apples my kids eat have NO nutrition in them, what-so-ever.
I'm sold.
There was also this obsession with buying organic. I dared not say that I don't buy organic because I didn't want to hear how I was poisoning my family.
Fun times. I can never have that 20 minutes back.

I get sale pitches ALL THE TIME. Apparently itworks would cure my Crohn's if I took it. Yeah, no. Gotta love being BMI 20 and getting weight loss product pitches lol since I definitely need to lose weight.4
-
i have a running bet with a friend of mine on a triathlon forum whenever a question about nutrition is asked - how long before Isagenix or Beachbody are mentioned (followed of course with a, I can help you sales pitch)2

They covered a lot of woo in 20 minutes!4

Being told how bad my homemade soup is. My homemade soup full of veggies, chocked full of veggies, and protein. That killed me a little bit inside.
Also, being told about the family saving $275 a month on groceries because of their investments in the shakes. Uh, I feed my family on $400 a month. My family of SEVEN. When I say there's NO budget, I mean, there is NO budget.
Of course budget is moot because I'm not buying but still. The whole thing was crazy.

It was the biggest woo fest I've ever attended and I didn't even buy tickets.7 -

sounds as good as the beachbody one that told me i'd be better off switching to them from a gym membership because the cost of their shakes was cheaper than what I could buy at the gym (and I wouldn't need babysitting if I worked out at home)...which made the assumption I buy shakes at the gym (which I don't) and need babysitting for kids (which since I have no kids)...4 -
Oh man, I forgot our nutritionally depleted soil, which leads to our nutritionally devoid food. How could I forget that gem?
Also, our body is full of microtoxins that hold onto fat. Get rid of the microtoxins (via their clense) and lose the fat.8 -

Same type of logic for sure. What, you didn't buy either?1 -
I get pitches like that all the time. one woman even said the product she sells will reduce bad cholesterol,it gave her more energy(that would be the caffeine derivatives),her blood pressure went down, she sleeps better, and some other malarkey,oh and it helped her MS or some crap like that0
-
And people wonder why everyone gets so "mean" when crap like this is promoted on MFP. It seriously pisses me off, and if I had somehow been in a session like that, they would have gotten a piece of my mind.6

There was talk about more energy too, thankfully the details are buzzing out of my head.0 -
I dont understand why people refuse to accept the concept of CICO. It is not the shakes it is the calorie deficit that u lose weight. In fact i'd rather get my nutrients eating real food then drinking all those expensive shakes. I have a friend on Facebook always posting how great she feels, how she's lost over 20 lbs. you can feel great too!!! I want to tell her you can get all that eating food as well but i dare not start a riot.4

arsenic - i heard belladonna was the correct addition to elderberry wine0 -
Good for you OP. It's nice to see a post about this MLM garbage that isn't promoting it.7

It's a nutritional elitist thing. My husband's former boss was big into isogenix and tried to sell to him all the time and he had a TERRIBLE relationship with food. When he did indulge in something he deemed unworthy, he'd fast and "cleanse" to get toxins out of his body. And he was incredibly unhealthy looking. Bad skin color. He shared with us the gem, that our kids eat so much because we don't feed them organic and their bodies are starved for nutrients.
Uh, I'm pretty sure having tween boys is reason enough to eat like no tomorrow.
Anyhoo. I wasn't impressed with how messed up his view of food became.5 -
Would have told them *kitten* you and the horse you rode in on0

How did you get away? I get infuriated when people try to push this kind of MLM crap.
I started in a new department at work and during the first week a girl from another department was having her lunch in our break room. (Long story.) She was saying how she drinks three shakes a day in place of meals and for the first 2 weeks you can only eat boiled eggs, carrots and peanut butter besides the shakes.
"I'm tellin you girl, this diet is amazing! It has saved people's lives! I mean 500 and 600 pound people losing 300 pounds in 6 months!"
The other co-workers reply: "But I really like food. I like to eat FOOD, not drink shakes."
Crazy woo person: "Oh it's just for 2 weeks then you can add in stuff, healthy stuff. Like 2 shakes a day and then a healthy dinner like chicken breast and salad."
I wanted to bang my head against the wall. The only thing that stopped me is I am new to this department and that what I wanted to say would have fallen on deaf ears.
Also, crazy woo person was not at a healthy weight but to be fair I have no idea how long she had been drinking her magic shakes.0 -

^ this is what infuriates me! She can spout off about her weight loss method but if you came along and talked about CICO, people would attack you! Heaven forbid someone MAKES SENSE!

I totally walked into this. Friend, fellow twin mom that I've known for years has been on a fitness journey, we're facebook friends and I really admire her fitness journey, this summer she ran an AMAZING 50K. She messages me about her business and I let her know that I'm a hard sell (like never) and she's wasting her time. So she says she's new and she'd like to practice. I'm supportive and tell her sure and she calls, a multi party call and her higher up is on the line and wants to talk to me.
Soooooo, I opened myself up and there I was, on the phone. It was like talking to, uh, various family members that talk forEvER. It was my own fault. *sigh*
I am too nice. But not nice enough to buy!2 -
So you just said "no" and hung up? Or was there more pushing?
I have been too nice at points in my life and found myself with a bathroom full of "oxy-something" products a family member was selling so no judgement!2 -

Wow I would have been soooooo pissed at her for setting me up like that!

I politely chatted and let her give her shpeel. I can honestly say now, that I know what Isogenix has to offer and I'm not interested. I'm not getting sucked in to listening again.3
-
Good. And true, now you know and still aren't interested!0
-
In a much smarter move on my part, I make the most amazing rolls and a batch just came out of the oven. Hmmmm, real food.5
-

You: "Sorry, I'm not interested at all but I'm sure you'll do well with it".
Family Member: "But let me just tell you about the great things it does for people ..."
You: "Hey, I was watching this movie the other day and thought you might like it ..."
A friend's wife is into Juice Plus and tried to start conversations with me about it multiple times. I had absolutely no problem steering the conversation in a different direction away from the Juice Plus. The key is to NOT say anything that indicates you have any interest at all.
And if someone pulls *kitten* on you like getting you on the line with their handlers, every phone I've seen has a disconnect button.4 -
Reminds me of the time I went to a timeshare demo. Now, in fairness, I thought they were doing tours of the new hotel and it didn't dawn on me it was timeshare until I agreed to go, but I went anyway. Had a nice dinner then the sales pitch started. They tried to get my wife onside, but that didn't work. In the end, the supervisor asked me why I came if I didn't want to buy.
I (at around 300 lbs) looked at him and said "Look at me. You offered me free food!"
Yeah, he didn't like me after that.
Hey, can I blame them for my weight?8 -
I'm just a sucker, no food involved.0
