So far I have lost 16lbs since October. 10 or so lbs in the last 3 weeks. I always make sure I over estimate rather than under.

This means you are losing around 3 pounds a week. Two pounds a week is recommended. Anymore then that and you are likely losing muscle and are at risk for lose skin. However it is possible you may have been losing water.

You have lost weight before but now are trying to lose weight again. Did you gain the weight back?

Also extra info but TMI so skip it if that bothers you but I have had tummy and digestive issues too but Im not sure if that could affect me so badly that Id go from losing 2-3lbs per week to nothing. Ive tried pills for that and it did nothing for me. I even ate almost a whole bag of broccoli today lol

What exactly are your digestive problems? Irritable bowel syndrome? Ulterative colitis? What pills are you taking?

With your history of an ED and digestive problems I do not feel it is appropriate for you to be posting on a weight loss form. It is unlikely any of the posters here are qualified to advise you and those that are understand that it is inappropriate to give you advice without access to your medical record.

You are also in a contest to lose weight despite having a history of an ED? I think you would benefit from talking to your doctor about seeing a dietitian or therapist.

Gained it back. I was bedridden for 5 months and unable to walk. I hadnt lost my pregnancy weight from my 1 year old yet at the time either so It just added on. This is the biggest Ive ever been. I dont know what my digestive issues are. No diagnosis just need to see a gastroenterologist. I have an appt for Jan. 18th. I cant use the bathroom and I seriously took 2 doses of laxative (twice in a day as it says is ok on the box) and it barely helped at all. Nothing helps. I ate broccoli. I even tried chocolate. I ate beans. lol. I tried everything and my stomach is killing me. and Im allowed to live. Just because I had an ed doesnt mean I cant be in a weight loss contest. I have also lost weight in a healthy way 3 times in the past (once in H.S. and once after each of my older two children)..

On the digestive issue. If you're constipated, fiber sometimes works well. Sometimes it's the worst thing to take and it blocks you up like it's turned that waste to cement. Oh, and one of the worst things you an do while constipated is to eat anything that might give you gas. Like beans. You don't want gas pains on top of everything else. Plus, it doesn't have the usual exit available, so the pain can last much, much longer.

As was suggested above, give fats a try and make sure you are well hydrated. Enough fat usually will help loosen things up.

No scale? No problem, just eat a little less than you are now.

Um so eat less than 1200 calories per day? Are you nuts? One day even was 1000 calories because of abdominal pain from not using the bathroom... So tell someone who has a history of eating disorders (IE me) to go eat less than healthy. Good job!!! I have done this MANY times as I stated. I know how to measure and log my food.

In all fairness, how would she know this from your OP?

You have a new workout routine = water retention

You have digestive issues = increased weight until your next BM

You have been losing fast and you know that you are pushing it too hard. You know that you are taking risks of falling into your old habits. Have some patience and slow it down. Be kinder to your self and your body.

I feel she would know because I said in my original post I do not need help measuring my food. I specified it for a reason because I was hoping since it's a help forum they'd answer the questions I needed help with not just start saying things I said will not apply... especially since I have ED issues. I dont need to go below where I am now. I don't feel I am falling into old habits at all because I have fasted for 10 days at a time and eaten way below where I am now. I am trying to be healthier than I was. But if I go to eating 800 calories or something less I will be in old habits. I didnt know workouts add to water retention that badly :/ I figured it would stop after a day or two. Youre the second to suggest it. Thank you. I stopped exercising for today. I am going to go back to it and maybe alternate and take a day off every few days to see if it helps the retention and the stomach pains.

Losing 3lb a week is unhealthy. You know this. You are trying to justify it.

Yes, exercise can stall out weight loss. I'm not sure what type of workout you are doing, but when I started lifting I stalled for a month. Then one day, whoosh. Big drop that stayed off.

I read your comment about depo. I heard somewhere (so it's just an idea to consider, I have no facts) that your body can still cycle through and have periods of water retention. So check that out as well and see if you are close to when that time should be.

I disagree? I dont feel losing 3lbs a week is unhealthy. People in my other weight loss group are losing about the same. didnt know the depo part. Thank you for the info!

But at your current weight, 3lbs a week IS unhealthy...... I used to weigh the same as you and found 2lbs per week to work very well.

And I started at 220lbs and never lost more than 1lb per week. 2lbs would have had me cutting way too low to be sustainable for me. So it very much depends but regardless, 3lbs is too much.

And this weight loss group, is it the one where the contest is? If so, I guarantee those people are probably engaging in unhealthy behaviours to win too and that's why they're clocking such big losses. That or they're more like 300lbs.

I started at 210, same weight as the OP, but I'm older. I couldn't lose more than 1.2 pounds a week. It would have been too much of a deficit. The larger losses came when I became much more active. In the very beginning of my loss, it was only a pound a week, if that.

In regards to the constipation.. Sometimes fibre helps, other times in can make it worse. My recommendation is make a strong cup of coffee as soon as you get up and add 1Tablespoon of coconut oil to it, this should yield results by the time you've finished your cup.

With your history and at your weight, 3 pounds a week is unhealthy.

To expect it to continue is unhealthy.

A lot of that was likely water weight, thankfully. I doubt it was fat loss as I can't see your calories working out to garner you a deficit that would result in such a loss in fat tissue.

Saying that, I agree with the others stating that I believe you need help. You cite your ED past and say you can be triggered by some posts and then in others claim you're past it. You're clearly not. If you were, this little blip in your loss and all the other myriad little reasons you start threads wouldn't cause you issues.

I am glad you picked up on that too.

It absolutely is. You know this. Your body can only draw a certain amount from fat stores each day, the rest comes from muscle.

Just because others in your group are doing it, doesn't make it healthy. This is just more excuses and rationalization go continue on your path. You know where it leads.

There are so many red flags and inconsistencies in your posts. I hope you get the help you need tk sort this out before it's too late.

My advice/inexpert opinion, since I suggested and you confirmed..... Get some more sleep. 8 uninterrupted hours a night at minimum. Send the kids away if you have to, or go to a hotel. I get constipated when I don't get enough sleep. Even 6 hours is not enough. 8 hours I'm good with no trouble in the restroom and 10 hours I wake up weighing less. In my inexpert opinion you're not recovering from workouts, your body is stressed, anxiety over it all causes more stress, and yes, actually eating more nutritious food, not just random calories, may help.

My diary is locked. I never said I wasn't eating nutrition food either. Especially the last week. Mainly homemade fresh ingredients. Fresh carrots, celery, onion, spinach, arugala, homemade lasagna, etc. The most I ate that wasn't was some vegetarian meat substitutes with it. I don't eat like that all the time because I have kids so I zap stuff sometimes but it was thanksgiving and I had a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits left to use up. Still do actually. lol. I agree with the sleep...I should probably try to sleep more but its difficult. Some of the weight fell off. I went close to 208 (I was stuck at 210-211). So I guess it's coming off gradually. I went back to exercising yesterday. I only skipped one day. I don't want to stop and then lose my motivation.

No it's a different group. And they're doing things a lot more unhealthy then me I do have to say. A couple people eating 800 calories I just found out on medifast and arguing because medifast is balanced it's OK but I figure it's processed food so how healthy can it be? But it's not my place to judge because I am not a dietitian..yet. I am studying nutrition in school but I don't like to do anything without a second opinion. Regardless my doctor knows Im on 1200 calories and said it's okay because they have been wanting me to lose weight for a while due to my health conditions. I have multiple health problems right now with no definitive cause and my weight might be playing a part, hence the low net calories. The reason I'm scared to go above that as well is because I'm not sure what I'm burning with Zumba. I keep logging it as 500 per hour but there seems to be no consensus on how much I'm burning. Someone said 200-300 someone said 700 someone else said they burn 600 and they're thinner than me. I'm just trying to find a middle so I won't accidentally over eat. Although I guess unless I'm WAY off I won't gain.

Well my dr hasn't complained? They told me to lose weight and said that a low net calories was OK for a short time period. I was even told 1000 was okay for a few weeks. Im doing 1200. Im only 5'4" so I'm considered obese. Dr is concerned because I have chest pains, breathing trouble, severe acid reflux, digestive issues, etc and it has gotten way worse with my weight gain.

OP--in my opinion, you need help. You know--but you don't know, this jumping all over the place with a million excuses and just looking for information that you like isn't going to get you where you want to go. You need more guidance and daily support.

Because I didnt ask anyone for their opinion. I asked if eating more for a day and taking an exercise break would help the water fall off. My doctor for the 100th time said I'm doing fine. I don't think I should have to defend myself on a forum of people who are supposed to be there for help not judgement. I'm not starving myself or eating in the 3 digits so there's no reason to be flocking at me. I have always lost weight fast. I used to eat 1700-1900 calories (netting about 1200) and lost 2lbs a week. I was only about 175lbs. I was exercising an hr a day then too. I'm netting 1200 again now and losing a bit faster because I'm 210. Considering the weight difference this is the same rate I have always lost weight and I've never had a complaint. It's always helped my health also.

But at your current weight, 3lbs a week IS unhealthy...... I used to weigh the same as you and found 2lbs per week to work very well.

If my doctor knew I had a history of ED and recommended a 1,000 calorie goal for me, I would have concerns. I understand that lower calorie diets can sometimes be appropriate for obese people who are having significant health issues related to their weight, but this needs to be balanced against how detrimental it can be to recovery for someone to reduce their calories that much. At the very least, he should be recommending resources to help you balance this 1,000 calorie goal against the very real risk of exacerbating your issues with food.

honestly - doctors in general in the US get very limited nutrition training - I'd work with a registered dietician with specialized training...

heck, my doctor still hands me a piece of paper with my BMI on it and tells me I'm overweight and then makes comments about how I don't look like I weight as much as I do...

I agree -- there are RDs who specialize in ED recovery, including helping people lose weight while maintaining recovery. This would be a good avenue for OP to investigate if she's able to.

weight loss isn't at all linear. slow downs, full stops and reversals are all common.

when i started lifting i retained water for nearly 3 weeks and my rate of loss since incorporating strength training has been slower than before generally. if i'm sore, my weight goes up (water helping to restore the muscles). If i am ovulating or have my period my weight goes up. if i eat too much salt my weight goes up. if i drink a bunch of alcohol my weight drops down for a day. and there a ton of other things that will affect it as well that i'm not even aware of. honestly, the last time my scale showed the same exact number three days in a row i thought maybe the batteries were dying.

if you are stressing about the scale you can get a free app that will trend your weight for you and may alleviate some of the anxiety of normal fluctuations. if you're worried that you'll become numbers obsessed if you weigh yourself daily, try weekly measuring with a tape measure. I've found that sometimes even when the scale is stalled i can see progress in inches.

if you're counting calories then you are already playing the numbers game, a food scale will only increase your accuracy at it. if you don't want to use it though that is a personal choice and i think people suggest it so often only because so many have found that it really makes a difference.

Sadly, it seems like that ship has sailed.

OP, you've received some very honest advice here. I hope you take the concerns and care to heart and help yourself.

It does not sound like you're in a mentally healthy place to lose weight. I agree with the suggestions to see a licensed counselor as soon as possible.

    Please take care of yourself!
