There's this place in Portland that's been there forever, and that's the only one I've ever been to. It was really late at night, so I think the talent was not representative (maybe it was, I'd never been before) but it was laughable. I could see the "back room" from the entrance and it was very clear that the talent offered additional services.

    It was gross.

But besides that one experience I can't really offer an opinion on them.

weird! Portland has some AWESOME clubs! DV8 is probably my fave strip club that i've been to.

I've heard that Portland/Oregon has the most strip clubs per capita in the US. I'm sure there are some really great ones. I'm just not that into it. I like my imagination better, and it's free.

who cares about per capita? a 1 horse town could have the title. tell me what cities hast the most! :D

I don't like them. Having a genetic daughter and 100 "adopted" daughters at the skating rink, I view the strippers as someone else's daughter. And, that makes me sad no matter how hard they try to look happy at their job.

Never actually been or had a desire to go. To me, it'd be like going out to a buffet, not being allowed to eat anything while they wave pieces of meat and cake in front of you, and then having to go home and make yourself a bologna sandwich.

I've been to one... hubby and I were hauling a mare out of state, got thirsty, stopped at this bar in the middle of nowhere for some iced ea and a coke, and they had a stripper night going on. The dancers looked haggard and hard-used, the men looked hungry and predatory, and when the "floor moves" ( stark naked and spread-eagled) started, the vibe in there got really uncomfortable. We hated it, got back on the road, have never been to a strip club since.

Sounds to me that you have never actually sat down and talked to a dancer. There are always exceptions but from the ladies I have talked to they enjoy their profession. They are the center of attention in a room with hundreds of men who all are competing for their attention, they can make enough money in one night to pay for a months worth of expenses and very minimum effort. They can get free drinks all night long, their security is pretty much guaranteed by professional bouncers, they are in control unlike normal settings where the man is normally controlling the actions.

Someone with puritanical ideology would have a problem with the profession but they would not even think about pursuing the profession unless it was a last option and even then they would probably not get very far since the job entails more then just being a pretty woman. Attitude is even more important in the job since you have noting to hide behind they have to truly be in the mindset so that their body language suits the environment.

The Greater Toronto Area is home to a "few" such clubs. I don't mind going - but usually only enjoy it if already druuuuunk.

If sober you notice too many details...like the people around you, the relatively filthy surroundings...the cost of the god damn beer.

Sundowners in Niagara Falls is an exception though. I could probably go there sober. In fact i could probably open a small office out of it - and live happily ever after,

I don't think they're particularly classy. I have no interest in going to one.
I'd prefer a burlesque night or something a little more creative and light-hearted.

Although I haven't been in years, I like strip clubs. Its fun to stop in for a few beers but I'm not into paying for private dances, that's just a big waste of money in my opinion. The best time I ever had at a strip club was when my wife came along...she had more fun than me :)

Creepy old men, sittin' around dangling money at young women that despise them or barely tolerate them because they have money. Wow! That sounds like fun, doesn't it! Uh, no.

What are these strip clubs you speak of? Is it like Magic Mike with women? I have to admit it makes me uncomfortable to think about a lady having to wax her chest hair and wear a*ssless chaps. I bet it sure is entertaining though.

It depends on the quality of the girls working. If they got talent and actually put on a show then it's fun and entertaining. It's amazing the moves they can pull on the pole. If the girl just go up on stage and is all blah, blah, blah it's a waste of time and money in my opinion unless you are a person that just loves to see women naked no matter what.

IF you're a guy try to go with a girl or a group of girls. You will have a much better time. The dancers will pay more attention and not think of you as a total creep.

And spending 40 hours a week under florescent lights in a tiny cubicle filling out TPS reports or answering phone calls from mouth breathers to stupid to plug in a widget they bought in some big box store sounds like a ton of fun. At the strip clubs the ladies are free to express themselves with a routine on stage and have men wanting them sounds horrible.

    Been to loads of them.

And I am never spending my money so I don't mind! Some of the girls are very talented dancers.

Generally they are pretty sad places overall. Just full of guys paying to see naked chicks.

Spearmint Rhino in London does a decent steak though.

I like strip clubs. Generally I envy the girls dancing and bodies. Honestly one of the reasons I want to lose weight is to do an amateur contest somewhere once..It's one of my bucket list things..even though I'll probably never have the guts to get on a stage in front a million strangers in my undies and dance (badly) lol.
Someone with puritanical ideology...
Actually, I'm probably most aligned with Eastern religion. An agnostic Buddhist. Hey, thanks for jumping to conclusions. The thread asked my thoughts. I gave my thoughts. You may accept or reject them as you wish. Namaste.

Not sure, I have never been to one, but the location of the dollar bills in the joint is part of the reason I don't like to carry cash.

    Just dont carry singles.

it's the bigger bills that you have to worry about... you don't want to know what they do to get those.

I don't mind strip clubs. We only have a couple bars/clubs in my city and the strippers is somehow the best bar...

What? You are going to the strip club for entertainment in the form of nakedness, and most do give you just that.

Unless you are somehow equating the food to sex. If that is the case then you are confusing strip clubs with brothels.

I've only been to strip clubs in New Orleans and I gotta say I wasn't impressed. The girls didn't seem to be having fun and it was pretty lame. It's cheaper and more exciting to just watch porn. Or have someone willing to give you a lap dance at home.

This ^^^ I went once and was actually quite shocked with the quality. The girls weren't that fit to be honest...now I understand why people have said I could easily strip ;) haha too bad I prefer pursuing a career with my brains ;)

Yeah, this. Of the women I've talked to who work in this profession, almost all like their jobs. The ones that didn't, stopped stripping for money pretty quickly.

I'm sure there are places left in the world where the women aren't doing the job because they choose to. I do not think my choice to attend or not attend places where this is not the case impacts this fact one way or the other.

The original question covered too broad of a subject, like asking 'do you like restaurants?'

A lot of folks hate the concept of greasy fast food joints, but love the experience of a high-end restaurant with world class chefs and excellent wait staff.

Stripper dives with haggard drugged out disinterested women? No thanks

Gentlemen's clubs with toned athletic professional dancers (with a choreographed routine) and a pleasant atmosphere? Sure, why not.
