People just lie.
In real life they do (they do it to self improve)
On the internet they do it (to self improve)
People just want to be perceived by others as being more worthy and accepted in general, so they (in general) fabricate the truth. The internet just makes it so much easier for most.0 -

I tell people that my dog eats her own poop sometimes, but it's only an assumption.
I've seen her sniff and lick her poop, and her breath smells of poop, but I have not seen her eat it.
I'm a monster.0 -

There are lots of reasons. Though what I have noticed, is either people lie to be something they are not ; so that they get attention, etc.
The other reason is because I noticed that people online have expectations that are far too unreasonable. So to live up to that hype they lie.0 -
This thread made me think of this:
When you got my kinda stats, it's hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot
And I lose a bunch of weight everytime I log in

Some of them do it because they are crazy.
I think this also.0 -
Insecurity with themselves. Anytime people present than themselves as something other than themselves it is due to an insecurity or unhappiness with who they are.0

"Because everything I say is everything you've ever wanted to hear
So you drop all you defenses, and you drop all your fears
And your so busy feeling good
That you never question Why
Things are going so well
You wanna know why?
Cause I'm a Liar
I'll hide behind a smile and understanding eyes
And I'll tell you things that you already know so you can say:
I really identify with you, so much
I'll come to you like an affliction then I'll leave you like an addiction
You'll never forget me... you wanna know why?
Cause I'm a Liar"
