This thread is for anyone who rides a bike. Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? So you ride weekends? Do you spin, at home or the gym? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.

I'm in for 200 miles this month - going to be a bit of a hostage to fortune depending on what the weather does, and how much cycling I can sneak into the pre-Xmas prep, but that will do for a stake in the ground.

Since my distance is not measured when riding on my trainer, I will go with time. I think I want to shoot for 800 minutes for the month. Now if I can only fully recover from my cold to do so. Right now I am feeling pretty good, but exercising tends to bring the coughing back, at least it did two days back.

I'm not sure what goal to set - everyone keeps telling me it's suicide to ride a bike around here after dark; and the bike-able days will be limited in any case, since I'm looking forward to vacation from the 20th onwards. Still, I don't want to get out of the habit completely... Maybe 100km for December.

Goal for the month is 257 miles (strange number is to get me up to 4000 miles for 2016).

Did an odd indoor workout today, watched a game of rugby while doing a two hour low intensity ride and then did a 3 min max power test. Maybe a two hour "warmup" was a little excessive!

34 miles to kick off the month.

The lingering cough from my cold has been limiting my times. It seems to be improving slowly thankfully.

Gorgeous day around the Berkshire lanes, sunny and freezing cold but I have discovered thermal clothing - only my toes froze. I notice the bike industry sells winter cycling shoes - are these worth trying? I'm amazed to find I enjoy cold weather cycling even more than the other stuff - it's the light and being able to see the landscape now the trees are bare. Well. First days of this month spent abroad ( no bike) so my first Dec foray today.

    5 Dec 11.42miles Tadley Silchester
    that's 11.42 of 120 hopefully

Cycling in December is cold! I think I need warmer gloves. And shoes. Although my rides to work and back are short enough that buying loads of special clothing seems a bit excessive. I read somewhere about putting ziploc-bags over the feet, maybe I'll try that tomorrow...

Neoprene overshoes are definitely worth the money - they keep your shoes (mostly) dry as well

Count me in. I'm using a trainer since the weather has gotten cold, but between TrainerRoad and Strava, I'm getting a miles number. Here's where I am so far, though I'm not sure what goal I'll wind up with. Following the plan in TrainerRoad means I'll be getting more than a few miles, I'm sure. So, I guess, aim for 250miles?

    Current progress:
    Dec 1 - 12.7mi
    Dec 2 - 5.8mi
    Dec 3 - 18.2mi
    Dec 4 - 30.1mi
    Dec 6 - 12.1mi

    Total so far: 78.9mi

If I could find my Bluetooth speed/cadence sensor I could get miles as well. At the moment it is missing so I am just going by minutes on the trainer. For me the cold is less of an issue than the icy patches. I really don't need to crash just to get in a bike ride.
