I would love to run trails at night, but I need to find some running partners before I do that.
If you have Facebook you can search for a local "Moms Run This Town" group and find some running partners.0 -

I'm a member, but I'm in a sort of dead area between two groups. I did have a running partner from the group in the evening, but we couldn't find a place to meet up and run once it started getting dark, and she's too far to just run in one of our neighborhoods. We were trail running and the places we ran close at dusk. I was kind of using not having a partner as an excuse, but I do walk outside most evenings and I finally realized that running is just doing that faster and I don't actually need a partner, as enjoyable as that is.
Everyone has been super helpful. I love runners.0 -

(If there is no ambient light at all, you are in an area that is too dark to be safe for night running.) Otherwise, you can never seen what is outside your tiny, narrow beam of light, and what is coming.
Reflective gear, yes. Headlamps, no.
I agree for the most part. One thing I like about the million mile lights is that they are bright enough to be seen without affecting night vision. However, there is something magical about an organised group night run, where you just go by the light of your head torches and enjoy the wildlife around in a whole new way. It's never going to be a speed session though0 -
I got a pair of these Runlights gloves when they were promoted on Good Morning America https://www.gorunlites.com/. I actually LOVE them. It's a simple concept: bright lights tucked into a pair of gloves. But they are BRIGHT. I actually am conscious not to point them upward when a car comes toward me. Battery life is great, too0

It's been said before but a good headlamp is a must. I have Petzl Tikka 160 lumen headlamp with 3 adjustable settings. Picked it up on sale at running store and I love it. I have slap bracelets on my arms and a red blinking clip-on light on my back. Plus reflective clothes. My husband was passing me by one day in his car and said he could see me 1/2 mile away glowing like an Xmas tree0

If you are in a high cycling area, definitely make sure you have lights in addition to reflective vest. They don't have the bright, wide beams of car headlights so reflective-only vests are useless against them, and they will more often run stop signs without slowing down in high pedestrian areas. (Replaced my reflective vest with one having lights after nearly being run down several times).0
