    In my opinion, it depends on what type of flirting you are doing that gets misinterpreted. I have been called flirty but I never do typical "flirting" because I'm incredibly awkward... but I have quick wit and am sarcastic and silly and smile often, which tends to get confused for flirting when really I'm just being fun and friendly and happy. So are you doing that, or are you actually flirting (aka actually hitting on them)?
