SSRI Med Question...

After seeing some recent posts about different SSRI's that people take, it got me wondering people's opinion on something. I take Celexa 10mg/daily. It's technically not the minimum "therapeudic" dose (which is 20 mg), but it seemed to work very for me for the past 3 months that I've been on it. My doc thinks it worked because I'm small (5'2", 112 lbs). But lately I've had some stressors and feel my anxiety creeping in again. Myquestion is this: how did you know when it was time to increase your med dosage? Does anyone take less than the "therapeudic" dose and have it work well for them?

I had to look up SSRI's, but now that I did....isn't that a question for your doctor? Not trying to be dismissive, but only he and you know your specific situation. Regardless, hope all is well and your stressors pass soon.

And here's looking forward to a great weekend!

For me, I knew I needed to go talk to her again because despite talk therapy and all my other coping mechanisms, things were still getting worse. However, your doctor would know your situation best.
  • Personally, I know I need an increase when my depression and anxiety is all out of wack. And it lasts a span of months, not just a couple of days.

I was on Celexa for about 8 years and found it to be a great drug, however it stopped working. Like the other poster said, I noticed a change that lasted a few months not just a few days - so I went to my doctor and we talked about it and eventually changed to a different drug.

Have a discussion with your doctor and see what he/she thinks.

Good luck, managing depression is hard!!

Well for me its anxiety, not depression, but so far the increase has only been a few days. I have that "knot" feeling in my stomach for no reaon-booooo. So maybe I'll give it a month or so and see how it goes. I'm on a "baby dose"according to the doc so increasing wouldn't be a big deal lol
