Thoughts on Carb counting v/s calorie counting? ?

The bolded is exactly how I feel after eating regular birthday cake and ice cream, even after a well balanced meal.
Bread made from flour makes me sleepy or bingey. I now eat bread made from sprouted grains. All the supermarkets near me carry brands like Ezekial/Food for Life in their freezer sections.
I count calories first and tweaked my macros from MFP's default to reduce carbs a little and raise protein a little.1
