Does Cooking with Apple Cider Vinegar destroy the weight loss benefits?

Have you found that using ACV on hot foods or cooking with it in sauces eliminates the weight loss benefits? Should it only be consumed in its natural state - e.g., right out of the bottle - if someone is primarily interested in it for weight loss?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Since there are no weight loss benefits from consuming ACV (unless you are substituting it for some higher calorie food or beverage), no, cooking with ACV will have no effect on the weight loss benefits.12

There are no weight loss benefits to ACV. Consuming ACV does not create a caloric deficit and it doesn't "speed up your metabolism". If it worked, we'd all be drinking it and none of us would be overweight. So, cook with it at will. It makes for great pulled pork, though. Also pretty tasty as the acid component in a vinaigrette, IMO.10

As far as I know, yes the optimal way to consume ACV is raw as you would use in a dressing, or cucumber salad. But Ive also heard of people drinking it daily diluted (to prevent acid from harming tooth enamel) I just found this recipe online and was thinking of giving it a try but I didn't have any apple juice. The reason people drink acv is because it is a fermented food which contains the "mother" or "scoby" similar to Kombucha. They do so from what I understand to aid in digestion, similarly to taking a probiotic which acts in replenishing to good flora in your tummy. I'm not an expert on the subject but have been reading some info from Dr Mercola's website which may explain things much better than I just attempted to do.
Whether it helps with weight loss? I don't know.
Here's that recipe in case you want to try it. If you do, please let me now if it's good.

Oops, here is a link to Dr Mercola's website if you want to check it out. Quite a few articles about acv.1

There are no weight loss benefits from cooking with it to be eliminated and Mercola's ability to share useful weight loss information rivals that of a trained bear. Tutu, bicycle, and all.8

As a contrast to the Mercola stuff, here is Michael Pollan with some interesting information on the gut biome and how we don't know much about it yet: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/19/magazine/say-hello-to-the-100-trillion-bacteria-that-make-up-your-microbiome.html2

ACV does not do anything magical for weigh loss, regardless of how you're consuming it. To lose weight you must be at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals.0

I would guess that if you dressed coleslaw with a vinegar based dressing as opposed to a mayo based one, you'd save some calories.
In that regard, cooking with ACV would definitely have some benefits.3 -

I've never heard of using ACV to pickle mother, but that seems both odd and twisted. Even if you don't like your mother, I still think this just sounds weird.6 -

OP there is nothing magical about ACV, or any single ingredient for that matter. It won't help with weight loss and your body doesn't need to detox. Your liver and kidneys do that all for you.

She still ties in once in a while, just happy to keep my distance those days.
One the plus side, I won't have to spend as much money on ACV to pickle her later.3 -

There's also a Carolina pulled pork slow cooker recipe that calls for cooking the pork in ACV. I don't have access to a grill or smoker, so I usually use that recipe and it's delicious!

Interesting. Thank you for posting the recipe!
When I was a kid, Gramps made his own wine from grapes he grew out back on a tiny city lot. Anyway, his jugs of wine would form a "mother", which Pops always described as dead yeast that had converted the sugar in the grapes to alcohol during the fermentation process. He thought the yeast died off when the alcohol content grew strong enough that they could not live in the mixture anymore. They would siphon ("decant") the wine into a clean bottle and toss the "mother".
Later in college, I made my own beer (apple does not fall far from the tree ...). I would bottle it in plastic coca cola bottles since they would expand when the beer pressurized from action of the yeast digesting the malt and hops. When I poured some off and resealed the bottle, it re-pressurized, so I suspect the alcohol content never became high enough to kill off the yeast in my beer. There was a little residue in the beer, but not as much as in Gramps' wine.
Does Mercola recommend ingesting the Mother from ACV? Is it taken all at once or should you mix it back into the vinegar?

Yes. Research has shown it doubles the calories if what it is cooked with. #easymac0
