200lbs when will the weightloss be noticeable?

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. Now before I get into my question I know I shouldn't change my lifestyle to receive comments from people, I'm just curious about others experiences.
So I'm currently 200lbs, 5'6" and have a pear shaped body.
I was wondering how much weight I will have to lose until people will notice a change?
Has anyone who started at my weight recall when people noticed your weight loss? And have any idea when people will notice mine?

What I've heard is it usually takes people about 3 months to notice a change once you start working towards changes3

I started out at 211 lbs. I got my first comment at 28 lbs lost and then at 30 lbs, everyone was commenting.
It's different for everyone though.5 -
Until people notice a change or until they feel comfortable enough to comment? Those will be very different numbers!
Maybe 15-20 pounds for the first? Likely 30-40 pounds for the second. I've lost 35 pounds since the end of July and dropped several clothing sizes. I've had exactly one spontaneous comment on my weight loss (probably 25-30 pounds down). I don't count my husband because he sees me weigh the food so he knows I'm actively putting an effort into losing.
Generally speaking, people don't like to comment on weight loss because they're worried they'll offend you by implying that you didn't look good before (and/or that it's a temporary thing anyway - or that it's due to an illness you don't want to talk about). You may, however, find that you get more compliments on your clothes, hair, etc.14 -
Keep in mind that people may or may not ever comment...talking about one's weight is rather taboo and even when meant in a complimentary way, people can take offense because they translate, "hey, you look great...have you lost some weight?" to mean, "Wow...you used to really look like crap." As such, a lot of people just steer clear of any discussion whatsoever.
Beyond that, it really depends on a lot of different factors. I carried my weight pretty well...dropping 20 of my 40 Lbs wasn't terribly noticeable to many people. The next 10 were more noticeable because my face started getting thinner and my belly started to shrink...the last 10 Lbs I lost my gut.8 -
This is something that has so many variables involved that it's all but impossible to know. It will depend on everything from how and where you carry your weight, how and where it starts to come off first, even how you dress/your clothes fit, how often you see people (people you see daily may be slower to notice a gradual change), and on and on. For me personally, I started getting comments about 20 pounds in from co-workers, etc. (I am a little shorter than you but started at roughly the same weight). I also carried my extra weight pretty proportionally all over, and mostly lost in the same fashion (I'm working on the last few pounds now, and those are mostly in my belly. Grr.). You may have a similar experience - or it may be much sooner or later. It's hard to say.
What I would suggest to you, and what I wish I'd done early on but didn't, is to take starting measurements and pictures. Then take updated versions of each every month or so - those things may help you see progress that the scale doesn't show. You got this!

I also think that if you are pear shaped, it takes longer. Those people closest to you more often are looking you in the eyes or looking at your face as you are talking. I lost almost 50 lbs and my best friends didn't really notice until we looked at old pictures. I took it as a compliment to mean that they never saw those 50 lbs in the first place!
If you carry more weight around your face or higher up on your belly it might be noticeable more quickly. Pictures again are good motivators!4 -
Same height. Started at 202.5. When I got to 170ish people started asking if I changed my hairstyle. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯17

I started at 230 lbs and got my first comments at 20lbs lost, though I think my family had their suspicions for a few weeks before they asked me outright. Funnily enough, I got my first comment at work the very next week.3

If you're bottom heavy (like me) I would say it will be when your face starts thinning out. I think we pears tend to lose from the top on down, so people will start seeing your face/neck/shoulders/arms change before the bottom half really catches up...simply because that's where the majority of our fluffiness is.

It varies but since you asked, I started at 204 (I'm 5'2") and no one seemed to notice until I got to 170.
My family noticed after the first 10 pounds but they knew I needed a cheer squad and were aware I was trying.1 -
I probably lost 20 lbs before anyone noticed. I've been at my current weight for probably a year or two and I still have people who come up to me and say, "You've lost some weight, haven't you?"
Most people really don't pay much attention to what other people look like. Sometimes they just happen to notice something that makes them realize that a person is thin or fat and then they will say something.0 -
For some reason people who haven't seen me in several months often ask if I've lost weight. This has been going on since I was 16 and seems to have little to do with how much I actually weigh in relation to when I saw them previously. Is this a social thing?2

For me, the first time I lost weight (argh) I started at 189 and people started commenting around 170. Now I am at 202 and I think the difference will start to be noticeable when I get down to the low 180s because my clothes will fit much better.0

I started at 340, but it wasn't until I was around 260 that people started to notice. I am 6'5" Male.0

5'3.5 pear started at 200 - family and very close friends said something early (10-15 pounds gone) as they knew I was trying. General friends and others started to say something around 30 gone and now with 44 gone I get a LOT of comments from friends and acquaintances. I have lost over 8 months roughly.
Also for reference - I was pretty much always wearing the same tops, just a bit tighter, but pant size went from a VERY tight 14 to now an 8.1 -
I think it took the first 30 to 40 for people to notice. You are doing great and just keep at it, slow and steady. One of the things I've learned is that the smaller you get, the easier it is to spot additional weight loss as well, which is always so encouraging, so just keep at it. You are going to do great!1

No one can tell you that unfortunately. Everyone is different!
But you can be sure that losing fat will be better for your health, self confidence and appearance.3 -
If you look at my picture in my profile I'm pear shaped and that was 30 lbs down. I'm down an additional 10 and I have friends that haven't said a word and to me its a huge difference.
I agree with the above posters outside of my immediate family, I think people don't know what to say. idk1 -

I started at 200 (5'6") and am now 171. I'll be honest - not too many people have said anything about my weight loss. I am apple shaped. I notice it and am no longer wearing plus sized clothing, but I have only received comments from a handful of people. Maybe they don't want to embarrass me. I am not sure. I would like to lose another ten pounds. That should make my weight loss more noticeable.

I started at about 210 pounds (95 kilos) and I started getting comments when I got to 175 (80 kgs), which is also when I started noticing myself. As I'm above average height for a female it means I have to lose a lot more for it to become noticeable but hey, on the plus side if I gain a couple of kilos it's not noticeable at all.0

I started out at 212 lbs. I am 5'1". It took about 45 lbs. for the dropped-jaw, can't-help-but-blurt-out-a-comment stuff started happening routinely from friends and acquaintances.2

It depends on how observant those people are and how inclined they are to comment. It's different for everyone, some people might say something right away, and others might never say anything. Don't hang your self-worth on it!1

I am 5'4" and started at 238 lbs on June 1st. I am down 54 lbs, at 184 lbs now, and the last few weeks is the first time people have commented (coworkers and family). I have recently bought some new clothes that fit my new size and I think when I was wearing the baggy bigger clothes it was also less obvious. I am kinda pear shaped, I think, and myself have noticed my face has thinned a bit as well in the last month or so.0

I'm 5'4" and started at 250 (also a pear-shaped body). For the first 50 lbs no one noticed and my clothing size didn't even really change (so proud of myself for sticking with it anyway!), but after about 195 I started noticing a big difference and by about 180-185 my pants size was dropping regularly with lots of compliments from every direction and a BIG change in the mirror. I'm now 172 and feel like a different person and am wearing a full 5-7 sizes smaller than I was at my highest weight. So I don't think you have too far to go!
But some people avoid commenting on weight loss because they worry it's rude (and some people are just not very observant) so try to not take it too personally if people don't comment.2 -

Another REALLY helpful thing is to take VIDEO of yourself! Even if it's a video with your phone of yourself spinning around in front of a mirror. It feels silly but you will be amazed at the difference when you compare it later. Sometimes with a photo you can think later that it was just a bad angle or flattering lighting, but with a video there is no denying how different you look and move.1 -
I'm one who doesn't ever comment. I liked the person just for who they were, before their weight loss, and I like them the same after. Their body is their business. And I figure that they lost weight for themselves, for their health, not to receive compliments from me. Just throwing that out there. So please don't be too hard on people if they don't comment.3
